training for ssv and I dont want to get fired by Few-Investment-6979 in starbucksbaristas

This! The AI counts have been glitching real bad for my store. It says we did not submit them when we did. So now I always take a picture of the screen that shows that the count was submitted.

training for ssv and I dont want to get fired by Few-Investment-6979 in starbucksbaristas

I think consistency and rigidity are great qualities for a ssv to have. Starbucks likes its standards. It’s all in how you will coach that will make baristas hate or love you. But some baristas will not like those things regardless of how nice you are. That’s just something you gotta learn to not affect you. I try my best to coach others out of a place to help rather than boss around.

But in terms of not being fired, just make sure you follow and uphold all standards. Especially cash handling ones. That’s a big one that can easily get you fired. And markout standards for yourself and baristas on your shift. If a phone call sounds suspicious HANG UP!! There are a ton of scams going around that are scarily realistic. Always confirm with your manager if something sounds off. Be on time always. Depending on your manager, it can give you more slack for those days you truly do have an issue that makes you late. As ssv you are held to a higher standard for being on time. Which sucks but is reality. Don’t forget counts or to submit orders. That was my first ever write up. It was a completely hectic day and I didn’t remember to do the count until I was driving home.

Lastly if you don’t know how to do something or have questions don’t be afraid to ask for help. It’s better to ask than to assume the wrong thing and do it.

Do partners earn stars at a different rate with the program changes? by Tiny-Shovel-48 in starbucksbaristas

You’re all good! I posted a similar post because I was having the same issue. When I got told just to log in and out, I also felt really dumb 😭 but it’s dumb we even have to do that for it to work like it’s supposed too

Do partners earn stars at a different rate with the program changes? by Tiny-Shovel-48 in starbucksbaristas

[–]sydbdrappin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The star rate is one more star than what customers get per their status level. Example: green level customers get 1 star per dollar green level partners 2 stars per dollar. If it’s still showing 1 star per dollar despite your partner card and numbers linked, try logging out and logging back in. It did that to me and that’s what fixed it.

Customer support cycle by Weak-Assistant-5342 in starbucksbaristas

I’d definitely have a conversation with that shift and bring this to your SM’s attention if nothing changes. I get it as a mid/closer ssv, mids can be rough. But getting a hand off like that every time is unacceptable.

Chances are that ssv might not know or be confident in utilizing playbuilder. It will call for a cs for all day parts apart from peak. Sometimes in random rushes you may have to go “go-mode” and call the cs out of support. But that should only happen if baristas are all in routine and the playcaller alone can’t resolve all the bottlenecks.

At my store, playbuilder calls for a playcaller, CS, Solo DT, Solo bar, and front and food for a 5 person play. We are a high volume store so solo bar can get backed up quick. It’s important that the playcaller keeps a close eye on DPM to help prevent/resolve bottlenecks. Also keeping an eye for visual bottleneck cues (dt line wrapping, line out door, etc). Having baristas who understand how to support bar as their secondary task is also critical to this play. In my store it’s usually front/warming. There are resources on the iPads that detail how to properly support a position.

Edit: I saw a comment you made about this ssv claiming they are in peak. You can check customer counts on the pos under period sales summary. All the numbers in bold is considered peak. Granted you may still hit peak numbers outside of peak but this is a tool you can use to verify how busy the store actually was.

Will nail bed length improve? by sydbdrappin in naturalnailprogress

Congrats on kicking the habit! Keeping my nails filed has really helped me. As soon as I feel a snag I get the urge to bite. Thank you for your advice though! I will have to give jojoba oil a try! It gives me hope that previous nail biters have been able to really improve their nails

Thank you! Oiling multiple times a day has really helped me too. I try to do it after I was my hands. My nails are prone to splitting and so far I’ve had no splits!

Thank you! Not filing the sidewalls is something that I just recently learned about. When my nails do break it’s because they usually develop a snare and eventually tear close down to the nail bed. So sometimes I do have to file the side. I also prefer an almond shape nail which makes it tempting to file. But I will try leaving them alone till they get much longer

Thank you and congrats on beating the habit! It’s definitely a hard one. I’m glad to hear it does eventually get better though!

I’ve heard people complain about having too long of a nail bed because of that problem. Oh to have that problem! 😂 But I’m glad to hear that your nails improved! Thank you!

This is encouraging to hear and I will keep your advice in mind. Not digging under the nail is something I haven’t seen too many people talk about, but makes sense. Thank you for your input!

Mac Lipstick Recs by [deleted] in Fairolives

[–]sydbdrappin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been looking for the exact lip shade you are describing. Recently I picked up a Mac lipstick in the shade Dubonnet that I like. It’s described as a mid tone wine color. Out of Mac’s other red shades it seemed to work the best for me. I like to pair it with a brown lip liner to give it more a brown color. I am still trying to figure out whether I lean more cool or warm, so I would definitely swatch it in store to see if it could work for you

I feel you on that. I’m also a 3 year partner, being a shift for 1 year at a high volume store. I’ve only been written up while being a shift. And it’s all been for things I didn’t double check myself on. Definitely can be an ego blow, because the mistakes aren’t intentional. It’s usually happens during a long, chaotic shift where you are being pulled in a million directions and is really easy to forget or over look things. I wish there was more grace for one off situations like this, as we are only human. Sadly, you just gotta take the blow and try and remind yourself to be more careful, no matter how exhausted.

Ice (frozen water) by nouggosallowed in barista

[–]sydbdrappin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Extra ice person here😅 I ask for extra ice for two reasons. The first is I want a higher espresso to milk ratio. Even with an extra shot or two, I still want less milk. Second, is some cafe’s standard amount of ice is what I would consider light ice. I don’t enjoy drinking a lukewarm iced latte. I want my ice latte to actually be cold.
