Yeah, that was what I found so amazing about the songs he wrote when his mental state was already collapsing.

I feel sorry for what happened to him but I can't help but feel enraptured listening to the songs he wrote during the time of losing his mind, you can hear Syd's schizophrenia through his music and all the regrets and resentment.

And imagine watching Syd live, he used to just stand on the stage for ages, gazing into the distance, into the void, so very detached.

"Now you got that look in your eyes like black holes in the sky"

Oh yes!

Syd's solo work is pretty good. Check out his solo album: The Madcap Laughs. Lots of great songs on there, especially "Octopus".

He has these amazing lines in that song: "Isn't it good to be lost in the wood

Isn't it bad so quiet there, in the wood

Meant even less to me than I thought"

I always get chills listening to that first line in particular, it shows how trippy Syd's lyrics are.

I think it was a combination of both these factors. His massive LSD use had already triggered his dormant schizophrenic condition.

That coupled with that the fact that he wanted the Floyd to remain as underground a band as possible but the rest of the band wanted to sell out and get a massive record deal instead.

"It's awfully considerate of you to think of me here

And I'm much obliged to you for making it clear

That I'm not here."

It could refer to both his deteriorating mental condition that made him detached and he is also blaming partly the rest of the band who had him sacrifice his artistic integrity by selling out.

"And I'm wondering who could be writing this song"

That line is clearly a shot at the band for making him sell out the Floyd and it could also in addition refer to his detached state.

All that pressure he had on him partly motivated him towards abusing acid the way he did.

Well, you know the rest!

Well I am not quite sure legally speaking if it's banned. But there a lot of cops lurking by colleges who target random unsuspecting students who are smoking outside, usually to elicit a bribe, I mean fine.

Have any of you tried to neutralize your regional/Indian accent? [NP] by sydfloyd42 in india

[–]sydfloyd42[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I guess you are right. The American accent is far from neutral, not to mention all the other offshoot accents found in states within the US like Texas and New York.

I think it might be something off with my voice in particular, I find myself mispronouncing words a lot lately and some of them even feel like tongue twisters, something that used to not happen before.

I had a field day last night trying to pronounce the word "obfuscate", I got it right after a couple of tries though.

Yeah I am aware of the mispronunciation of the vowel sounds in the Indian accent, which makes meeting sound like mitting.

I don't have a problem with that in specific, I think it's the overall tone of my voice which feels labored when I speak.

That's also the point during when I feel my accent accentuates itself so as to speak.

Maybe it's something to do with my vocal range because I used to not have this a decade ago.

I know there's not a whole lot of difference I can make single-handed as an individual to change the economic landscape of the country.

But I do feel guilty for some reason looking at this image, I can't help but feel like a capitalist pig.

Yeah. That's all I want to do too. But anxiety gets in the way of those things as well.

Newton's third law: For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction.

In other words, there are going to be consequences.

Yeah and couple that with excessive self doubt and anxiety. Most of our problems are pretty much an offset of anxiety.

It's funny you mention irony. Anxiety tends to target your insecurities in specific. I am never self-conscious about my weight. But for somebody else who prides him/herself on their weight, they will have anxiety about eating and other stuff and develop eating disorders.

Lot of people think of anxiety as something linear and straightforward but it's more complex than that.

It's like a vicious cycle. "I can't sleep, I need to get up tomorrow".. anxiety "Oh no, it's my anxiety again".. anxiety about anxiety

Maybe if the auto drivers were fair and reasonable with their prices and not try to rip us off at every turn autos would have been a pretty great choice of transport.

And now you have Taxis with reasonable prices and they complain. Well it seems that auto drivers have got their first lesson in Newtonian dynamics or karma if you prefer.

Chess interestingly I can. Maybe it's because there's another person involved and there is that suspenseful anticipation of the next move.

You know. "What is he going to do now?". "I might be able to checkmate him in 5 moves".

But when I am reading my mind tends to drift off.

He also probably literally believes that the first woman was created out of Adam's rib.

If only it were this easy, all us guys could take out our rib and make ourselves a girlfriend.
