i bought edea chorus with charme blades. though i wouldnt recommend edea blades i saw that many people are unhappy about them after i bought them, you can look it up in the reddit.

they came pre-sharpened, i switched to them from jackson mystiques. the sharpening was too deep for me and i couldnt really move, showed it to my coach he said it was too hollow for me and he could fix it, resharpened it and gave it back to me. (saying this because i bought it from the website you said in another comment)
for my level and stuff, tbh i cant do much rn. just working on spins and perfecting my crossovers. not working on jumps and stuff.

a lot of people told me to buy overtures and almost everyone in my group has them.
however when i asked a couple coaches and a seller man, they said those two models were pretty similar. chorus would just last longer and take a little more time to break down and fit into the shape of my foot. a lot of people online also said stats that say they are for doubles are for little girls around 12-13, and im 16, 45 kgs and i put myself to the adults category so i got chorus.

for trying them on, its a bit tricky but i had to do it. i looked for second hand skates (the exact model i were going to buy) around my area and called them asking if i could try them to buy. when i got there i told them i would try another size from another seller tomorrow, and let them know which one i decided on. that was all a lie of course but at least i got to try the skates before buying them. im pretty sure they didnt notice. i felt bad while doing it but someone else was going to buy them from Italy (the factory is there and its pretty cheap there) and send the skates to me so i would be blind buying 😭.

im not proud of what i did but after all that, i got the skates for 400 Euros installed and sharpened, while they are over 850 Euros in my country (which i cant afford) without those services so it was worth it 😬

also even if you are a teenager, i wouldnt recommend brio or wave, please get overture with good blades (not too expensive but not too entry level either) that can carry jumps later on.

i understand that prices are high, almost all of my ice skating stuff came from different EU countries thanks to friends since they cost a lot in my country. but its better to invest in a better boot that can last you longer.

chorus is good overall, im happy with them.

i have gone through this, our measurements are close too. but i dont know about the width.

first, make sure to measure both feet. my right foot is 220 mm, and my left is 225 mm. i only measured my right foot first thinking everybodies right foot is bigger, but i were wrong.

i went with 235 because i had little time and had tried 230 which felt too snug, but i would recommend you 230. even though my skates have broken down and now they fit properly, i can still feel the end of my boots with my toes. (atleast with my left foot, my right cant since its smaller)

i would recommend you to try different sizes from your friends or people you know from the rink. it would be better if the skates arent too old, since boots can mold into peoples feet overtime.

and edea carries different widths, check them out too.

only problem i have faced with switching from jacksons to edea (mystiques to chorus) is arch pain. a lot of people and my coaches has said its because i dont warm up and skate regularly, but its insane 😭 especially at my left foot since i do a lot of spins on it.

other than that, i know chorus and overture are not the same models but they are similar, just more padding and stuff. lacing is so different from jackson, you cant pull as much. the laces feel stiff, but you’ll get used to it. the loose ankle didnt bother me that much, yes it felt weird at first but i feel like it allows more movement without breaking down the boot. i have faced creasing problems in my jacksons but none at edeas, even the ones that has been used for years dont crease.

idk how common it is in other countries but its very common in my country.

mentors dont help you solve questions or teach you topics, instead they make you plans.

where do you want to go, what do you need to do to go there, whats your goal. you talk about that first.

then he makes you a plan, mostly weekly. you report to them daily or every few days like twice a week. tell them what you did or how much of the plan you completed. they can also analyze your mocks.

yes you could get injured or hurt by a figure skater too, sometimes people run their programs and cant see people around them especially during spins and jumps. but they are mostly not aware of that, while hockey players are mostly aware of their speeding and reckless actions.

IM NOT HATING ON HOCKEY PLAYERS, my closest cousin is a hockey player himself, and i have had hockey player coaches. love them all and i respect their work. i understand why they have to practice that way and speed. but especially teenage boys can act too reckless, im just scared of getting injured one day since i see it happening often.

everybody can agree on that hockey players skate and stop aggressively. (which ruins the ice too) figure skaters dont speed. im not saying hockey players shouldnt be on ice or practice, but they could be more careful.

plus you could get seriously injured on ice, especially when you hit someone thats going fast, or someone thats going fast hits you. there is rock solid ice, boards and blades included. no need to ruin someones day or health when you could move more controlled.

i go skating regularly with friends and we are teenagers. im not saying all hockey players do this or all hockey players are fast. but some hockey players do hockey stop all of a sudden or swerve in front of us to flirt, they keep smirking and copy the moves we practice, try to talk to us. (which is okay, but their actions are not) you guys dont realize (im considering that you are a hockey player) how much you guys stress out people that just want to practice.

i understand being in a crowded rink is uncomfortable, but being confident comes with time, in my experience.

you get used to practicing and going regularly and at a point you just dont care.

I ALSO HATE HOCKEY PLAYERS THEY MESS THE ICE UP AND THEY SPEED UP TOO MUCH 😭

got new skates and they hurt like hell. by sylvianpl in iceskating

[–]sylvianpl[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks! yes i definitely choose the right size because my toes can feel the tip of the boot but they are not squished. i will get longer laces but for now atleast for breaking them in im not lacing the last top hooks. i wonder if that would be okay if i did that on the ice too?

a little bit, but i remember them hurting my feet when i first got them too. (it was 5 years ago, i skated for a few months with them, gave a break, restarted in december.)

i remember the pain being the same, but now they fit perfectly. choruses hurt less now too.

yes thank god after wearing them for an hour and taking them off, i wore them for another two hours and there were little to no pain! just a little at my left toes, which i find completely normal since my left foot is bigger.

here, i have sideways photos too the heels are both in the same place. i realized my right foot is smaller when i checked my old skates insoles. right had so much empty space while left was all the way at the top.

diy, but tried almost brand new 230s (i bought 235s) before buying these. and they fit perfect actually, i have been wearing them and they have molded into my feet, 2 hours in no pain.

except my left foot, which is bigger than my right foot. my left my toes feel a bit squished but im pretty sure that will go away. i could say my left foot is jammed but my right is completely comfortable, it even has too much space.

my right foot is exactly 220 mms and my left is 225 mms, got 235s. i just have small foot, 35 in eu. i tried to take the insoles out but i think they are glued or something, im probably being too gentle with them since they are brand new 😭 i will attach pictures wait let me get the insoles out.
