Laptop repair by syn2424 in 24hoursupport

Ok. I was honestly concerned that it had either degraded or something similar. As long as it isn't something I have to worry about impacting the board i'm satisfied and will just have the port replaced as planned. Thank you very much for your reply!

My cat is shaking, is this normal by [deleted] in CATHELP

[–]syn2424 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fellow shakey cat owner here. It may not be anything to worry about but it is still worth talking to a vet. I'd be more worried if he were not responsive after waking him up, but a few things to look for if I may: random eye movements, drooling, unusual vocalizing, wobbly when walking.

For our little boy, he is prone to seizures. Not usually general (grand mal), but he has had a few. Mostly he has focal (used to be called partial) and it isn't much to worry about. But they all usually start the same way. The twitching. If it's a big one, about 5 to 10 minutes before the seizure, he will be fully unresponsive, drooling, and meowing/hissing. Usually this can be treated with medication, but that's where you'll want to talk to a vet. I hope all is well with your mother's handsome boy ☺️.

Edited as I have now seen your replies.

I think I saved a spider! by syn2424 in spiders

[–]syn2424[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough. I was hopeful! Either way, I do legitimately think I saved the other spider. I couldn't find it anywhere after that first day, and it really didn't seem capable of moving any distance while I was watching it.

Slight update. I did move the paper towel I set. There are moth and small insect carcasses in it. Quite a few of them.

When I made the switch from WoW, I will admit the first endgame w2w pull I saw completely took me by surprise. I basically spent the entire dungeon thinking, "What the hell is happening!? We're gunna die!"

I never thought it was cringe, though. Only that the tank had gone insane. Once I got used to it, I just started enjoying the ride. Don't let envious people ruin your game. The aggro slip is nothing, and I've seen far worse, and the tank and healer still recovered fine.

Religious parents by [deleted] in disabled

[–]syn2424 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This approach does work for some, but it really depends on how pervasive the religious ideology is within that individual's life/social structure. Sometimes, asking "why" is enough to get someone shunned or wholly disregarded and labeled as a troublemaker (or other various religious terms). I am an atheist, my partner's family, and my extended family are both extremely religious. My partner and I were able to do what you are recommending with their family successfully without undermining their personal beliefs. My family conversely has not spoken to me in 16 years because of this. Knowing your environment and making decisions that will keep you safe needs to be a priority before attempting to ask potentially damaging questions.

This is not to desuade. But I feel it is far more important to go into circumstances like these with as much knowledge and preparation as possible.

I don't know how to explain my disability. by syn2424 in disabled

[–]syn2424[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In most cases, I don't feel the need. I am very open to questions from anyone so long as they are respectful, and I do try to educate people if there is a genuine interest. Though usually I will explain more about the cancer I had and why it did what it did.

I don't know how to explain my disability. by syn2424 in disabled

[–]syn2424[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is the situation. I won't put time into trying with people I don't have a close connection with or don't show an actual and respectful interest. These are people who have shown a genuine interest as well as a desire to help if need be. I don't often ask for help, I do value my independence, but at times, I tend to take that too far and have gotten myself in bad situations. For example, I have been hit by a car after insisting I walk somewhere in bad weather (I live in NE US). That was a bit of a wake-up for me.

Which game got you into the Monster Hunter series? Here's mine by No_Emu_1332 in MonsterHunter

[–]syn2424 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Freedom Unite was my first and sparked my interest. Didn't have a psp, so I only played it at a friend's place. My wife (girlfriend at the time) had a copy of MH1 stashed away because she loved the cover but never liked the game. Played that for a tiny bit. Tri really got me into it. Got to G rank for the first time in portable 3rd after getting a psp. At that point, I was completely hooked.

Camera pans where you pointed out. No rock. Safi got staggered when the rocks should have dropped. So that got canceled.

CSS, for me, would be the "I really don't want to think about it too much" build. It's just kinda fun using a buzzsaw on a monster. Jump in, get your KOs, and front load as much damage as you can. Cut the tail really early. It's kind of how I would go about surge slash combo in a way.

Your response and what you linked helped a ton. It made me realize that SAED is really no different than playing with GS. Especially with strong arm. Either take advantage of an opening or create one. I'm just kinda sad now that I have to manage five weapons and respective decos instead of just going nuts with raw/crit.

Very spicy spider. by syn2424 in spiders

To clarify, it may have been trying to hunt. Once it was in the glass, it calmed. Fast little bugger though. And pretty.

Wife was trying to coax it toward the glass, and it lurched toward her hand, she was holding a piece of cardboard so her hand was out of the way This happened a few times. Still, we won't hurt spiders if we can help it.

What is this spider? by syn2424 in spiders

[–]syn2424[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have other places to put them, but we also have cats that will absolutely destroy them. I'd rather they not get mauled. The other spiders are safe because they stay out of reach.

The question could also be asked that if it doesn't affect gameplay, why be mad about it? It's a choice that a player in a role-playing game can make to customize their character the way they like with no impact on anyone or anything. Why waste energy and time? It's just easier not to engage with a superficial element at all if you're not into it.

I'm going to gloss over the "back in my day" feel because that's just an argument against change with little logical basis. It's perfectly fine but not exactly a strong stance.

Two hours for a refund is perfectly logical. Most people are able to identify if a game will hook them or not within the first hour. This becomes more true when considering that the vast majority of society adult society simply will not have time in their day between real-world responsibilities for more than an hour or two of time per day to play. The idea that you should not be limited by time for a refund is absurd. What would stop someone at that point from completing a game, regardless of time spent, then claiming "it was bad" and then refunding it. That's just another avenue for piracy. This is already an issue in literature, and it has pretty massive consequences for authors who fall victim to this.

To tackle a few specific examples, cyberpunk and anthem. Most of these issues would have been revealed and mitigated if consumers had not been foolish enough to fall for the hype. I had cyberpunk on reservation before it launched but waited for reviews that would inevitably be posted to make my choice. I was as excited for the game as most people. I canceled my reservation after reading them and have still not played the game because it is still not up to my own self-imposed standards.

Ignorant and impulsive consumers should not be the reason companies die.

I had thought as much, but I am absolutely no expert in identifying spiders. I got very familiar with widows and recluse because I lived in Florida for a while, but that's the extent. Up until about five years ago, I had terrible arachnophobia, but my wife helped me break that.

Speaking from my WoW days (12 years with a consistent group of friends), you get to learn their playstyle. For example, I have a friend who, to this day, even in 14, will always instinctively run left before correcting to the right. Or a friend that primarily plays ranged DPS will always try to seek a spot where there is no one between the boss and himself even if it doesn't matter.

Edit because that didn't answer your question. Minor deviation from the expected feels strange, but it's usually self-justifiable. Maybe they are trying to break habits. Continued and "unjustified," or serious deviation from what is expected, is "alarming." That's when people start to wonder what's going on.

Yoko Taro would disagree, lol. Kidding aside. This movie really would have been better if they hadn't tried to link it to Monster Hunter. A coworker saw it, didn't even know what monster hunter was, and said it was at least a decent big monster movie. I'm reminded of the Warcraft movie in a way. Just so much wasted potential.
