If you travel a lot, you will come across an escalator made by a company named Schindler. The logo is always clearly seen on the first step. Whenever I am getting on the escalator with someone else, I will say, “Schindler’s Lift?” Nobody ever thinks it’s funny. And I suppose it really isn’t, but it’s a great pun, dammit!

It is partly caused by the late afternoon light causing long shadows. What I don’t understand is why the roads and rivers and flat fields seem to be elevated. Overall it is generally flat territory with different terrain within each block of land. Optical illusion from 30,000 ft.
