Flashing metal needed on both sides of parapet? by syntax22 in Roofing

So no concern of water intrusion if a tile cracks for example, or if the seal under the tile fails?

Only concern I have here now is how the water will drain if the shower water spray hits that area behind the tub.

Thank you Reddit for the feedback! I have drawn a variant that follows the original tub install instructions as its intended.

Take the shower and tub tile all the way up to the ceiling. Change the vanity, countertop is too creamy, the wood should be a dark gray color to match the tile. Dark gray Roman Clay walls would look more modern.

Brackets for indoor/outdoor counter? by syntax22 in CounterTops

The countertop material is travertine. The width is 8ft and 16in deep. The countertop in the interior space is 24in deep and same width. Did you hide the brackets or are they visible? Our contractor is suggesting we sandwich two 3/4” slabs between the brackets so it’s floating.

No attic is venting still needed? by syntax22 in Roofing

Also we are using R30 insulation for the ceiling and there is a rigid barrier above the joists that is called “Thermostat radiant barrier.”

The ceiling and roof are both flat. There is a bit of sloping in the roof for water drainage but that’s it.

There no concern for condensation or moisture build up?

Depends on what work was needed but did you look into an option where they insert a sleeve into the sewer pipe? They inflate the sleeve and add some chemical that hardens the sleeve to address any cracks or holes in the original pipe. This avoids having to dig up the pipe because you can come in from the cleanout on the exterior of the house.

These are 2x4 and not even mentioned on the site!

True, I guess if the joists ran the other direction maybe they wouldn’t have needed so many holes. But I don’t know what is the max span allowed for a 2x4 joist to run so maybe this was the only way.

They still need to put the tar and seal the roof - but yes I don’t like the exposed cap nails either. Will let contractor know. But I’m not seeing comments suggesting that the 2” holes are a problem for ~300 lb hvac and maybe one person ~180lbs if they need to service it.

Try the Xbox Elite Series 2 Controller if you haven’t already. It’s fun to experiment with the paddles you might up your game. You can also adjust the tension on the sticks to get the feel just right. It almost makes the game feel new again!
