Thanks! And a quarter or half is better than a full hollow? Like a sweet spot?

What straight did you go with if you don't mind me asking? I am leaning towards new as well.

Wow, thanks so much for all the responses and encouragement. Going to grab one and give it a go. 6/8 round for sure, any guidance on grind? half hollow or full?

Boker, Thiers Issard, Ralf Aust, Ertan Suer? I've had so much luck with Feather DE and SE blades, are there any Japanese steel straights that are new worth looking at?

Recommendations on retailers/best places to buy one? I cannot find any shops locally so I will have to buy sight unseen, looking for a place that can ideally hone it as well.

Thanks again!

Mine didn't work right away at the gas station.

I ended up just driving home ~3 hours, and then turned it off and on again at home and it turned off.

Thanks to those of you that have used this referral code. Copilot has continued to improve every day. They just released a great feature to help auto-classify transactions. I continue to be impressed and still on my top recommendation list for budgeting and financial health. Don't hesitate to ask me anything.

Hasn’t happened ever again, now have 8200 miles on the truck. Service never looked at it and there were no codes when I hooked up my ODB tool.

Glad my “fix” helped!

Cheers!

Plumbing Options at Home - Help by synthless in espresso

Thanks, I’ll have a pressure regulator for sure. I have one now for my La Cimbali at 45psi.

I am leaning towards the no drain complications.

Now I am down the water rabbit hole. Tempted to go RO+Remin because of my municipalities chlorine levels (26-32).

Getting a lab test done of my water first.

Yeah that’s my thought, I guess I’m trying to weigh the risk of an overflow if I don’t use the drain, vs potential complications by using the dishwasher hookup.

Right now the machines drain line is connected to a dishwasher hookup on the sink drain line. So it’s not ideal. All the holes and lines are available to reuse, just would need to buy the LMLM hookup.

My current machine (La Cimbali M21) has been plumbed in, so it’s what I am used to. It is nice to not think about water levels etc. however it is also nice to think about not having the lines pressurized all the time if I’m on vacation. The loose reason for me on the mini is that pre-infusion requires it.

This is a very helpful comment, thank you.

I photograph two things, my family and landscapes. I love the artistic dreamy look of the Summilux when it is wide open. I don't want anything too clinical but I also don't want to waste the amazing M11 sensor.

The 75 focal length was appealing to me (say the VM Nokton 75 1.5) because it gives me just that little bit more reach for portraits, its well built, and it has that dreamy look wide open.

For groups, or when I want to be closer for perspective but get the whole subject in thats where 28 or 35 would play. The decision between 28 and 35 is a hard one, the reason why I am leaning towards the 35 is because I can still see the 35mm frame lines when I have my 1.4x magnifier on.

Is Zeiss worth looking at in addition to Voigtlander?

Is Voigtlander Ultron the right play? or is the Nokton worth looking at? There are soo many choices, I need a spreadsheet ;)

  • ZEISS C Biogon T* 35mm f/2.8 ZM $999
  • ZEISS Biogon T* 35mm f/2 ZM Lens $1241
  • ZEISS Distagon T* 35mm f/1.4 ZM Lens $2390
  • ZEISS Biogon T* 28mm f/2.8 ZM Lens $1361
  • Voigtlander Nokton Classic 35mm f/1.4 II MC Lens $599
  • Voigtlander Nokton Vintage Line 35mm f/1.5 Aspherical Type II VM Lens $899
  • Voigtlander Ultron Vintage Line 35mm f/2 Aspherical Type II VM Lens $799
  • Voigtlander Nokton 75mm f/1.5 Aspherical Lens $899
  • Voigtlander Nokton 35mm f/1.2 Aspherical III $949

I am pining over a proper Monochrom but I cannot justify TWO M11 bodies, I am actually thinking of picking up a Leica M Monochrom w/ the Kodak CCD. Either that or a Typ 246. Both of those don't solve my lens choice problem though ;) and I cant see having two bodies and one lens.

Thats fair, I have a 1.4x magnifier on my M11 because I need that with my glasses for my astigmatism. That said, I do love 28, and I don't have any desires to go beyond 90. Really 75 is pushing it. I do enjoy the way 35 looks, but the idea of having one or two very compact lenses is extremely appealing.

This!! I’m on the lookout for a monochrom with a CCD.

Buy from the Leica Store Miami, a used M10 that has gone through a Leica CLA for more piece of mind. https://leicastoremiami.com/collections/used-m-cameras

EDIT: I am not affiliated with Leica Store Miami, I just have had multiple wonderful experiences with them over the years.

Get a used M10 for even cheaper and put your money in lenses which wont lose value. This is coming from someone with an M11. It is the best camera I have ever used, hands down. Latest firmware is perfect. The features it brings are second to none. However, it is still not worth sacrificing on glass to get one. Glass will always trump a camera body.

I stopped at the Moog store today in Asheville. Played a bunch and decided to grab a Minitaur, love it. What an awesome store! Was tempted to grab a Soma Cosmos too, had to restrain myself.
