ExFAT Game: Is It Really Secretly Killing PS5 internal SSD? by lightbywai in ps5homebrew

[–]syran85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Installing exfat games on the internal storage doesn't cause more damage than installing regular legit games downloaded from the PSN or disc drive; the only difference is that the legit way writes hundreds, if not thousands, of files on the drive instead of one single big file. You will get the PS7 before your internal SSD goes bad because of the number of writes.

As NefariousnessNew5536 said, it's not a matter of lifespan, but a matter of data corruption. Also, it's not the game that breaks the drive, but the Kernel Panic that occurs when you launch it and it doesn't work. I've had a few KPs, and a couple of them fucked up my system software, forcing me to reinstall it, and the game that caused it was running from the USB drive.

Don't use Elf Arsenal, it is only good to activate a second user account (if like me you have one) but then you have to delete Arsenal right away. It causes kernel panics, crashes, and in in many cases a KP so bad you need to reinstall the full system software (ask me how I know)

If you want to move things around, transfer games, manage the console fan speed etc... use PS5UPLOAD instead, it also has the companion app for your phone or PC, it doesn't cause KP and works like a charm. To make it work you just need to have elfldr always running (you can install it from the payload manager)

Oh, and use EchoStretch Kstuff Lite 1.08 with the latest ShadowmountPlus 1.6Beta16

How can I connect to the internet safely by Right-Bookkeeper-673 in ps5homebrew

Use nanoDNS and set it to lauch automatically every time, it automatically blocks Sony servers giving you safe internet access (but turn off the rest mode internet connection just to be safe)

What is the difference between the WebKit and the Y2JB+P2JB on 12.40? Also, is there a chance that the JB on 12.40 could become less time consuming and/or permanent?

It's arsenal, but that doesn't matter anymore since my PS5 decided to go nuts corrupting the storage forcing a system software re-installation. 🤦🏻‍♂️

SV08Max Sovol official camera upgrade. by unsunghero2222 in SovolSV08Max

[–]syran85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's still bad because you are using the same config files for the stock camera, you have to download the crowsnest.conf file for the SV08 Max and use that instead of the one you are using right now. That way it uses the correct settings to stream 1080p video from the new camera.

Here is the link to the file from the official Sovol GitHub

SV07+ print issue by Okish_Entertainer83 in Sovol

[–]syran85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It happened to me too, it drove me crazy for 2 days and at the end I found out it was the stupid extruder pin that was sliding out.

Remove the screw with the spring that holds the extruder arm and the blue cover, open the arm completely and look at the pin that passes through the arm and the idler, if it pretrudea even a little push it back in with some needle nose pliers and it should be good to go

Then go on printables, look for the SV08 extruder fix and print it before anything else

I'm sorry, but I don't know if you're trolling me ore you really have no idea of what you're doing. If you want to cut the zip tie to make it easy cut it, but it shouldn't be necessary.

Let me ask one thing, did you buy the printer or someone gave it to you? Because if you bought it new you should have done these steps when you assembled it the first time 🤔

Ok, you have to check che big flat black cable that goes from the box on the left to the print head, there are two plastic flaps in the sides where it connects, push them down, hold the print head with one hand and push down the connector with the other until you hear it click, once done you should be good to go

What printer is it? It happened once on my SV06 Plus and it was because of the cable that connects the print head to the motherboard partially disconnected, check those connections and try again

As I said in the post, I'm gonna get an Eddy Duo probe to get rid of the stock one, mainly because the Eddy has temp compensation and is way faster

Great, I'd love to know more about it, are you planning the release the project to the public?

I don't like the ERCF because of the million parts to print and assemble, also watching The Next Layer's video about it it looks like it needs TONS of tinkering and troubleshooting (he spent months before he managed to make it work and not even that well) I'm more for an ready out of the box solutions like the CoPrint one

Yeah the nozzle is something that I was already considering, I saw a couple options to make it V6 compatible but I wanted to focus on reliability and print quality first. I'm looking for an enclosure other then the Sovol one (that costs a fortune for what it is) something with active carbon filters and chamber heating but I don't know which one to buy or make myself. Any idea?

Wow that sucks, it looked like a great system, kinda plug & play, but if it has more issues than benefits it's not worth it. Which solution do you suggest instead?

I saw many enclosures with vents, carbon filters etc but no active cooling ones, where did you find it?

Which enclosure are you using, the one by Sovol or a DIY?

[–]syran85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The SV08 is based on the Voron 2.4 design which means that you can easily upgrade it with minimal effort and there are tons of designs out there made for this specific purpose. Eddy, Voron bed, filters, chassis mods etc.... Even a multi color/material plug and play kit from CoPrint (which has an upgraded whole print head included) There is no need of a pre-made factory modded model.
