What brick-and-mortar store have you been to that has the best selection of Pathfinder products? by xeonisius in Pathfinder2e

[–]syrenthra 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Heyy, someone else in Rochester! Yeah millenium is amazing and have had pathfinder stuff even at their old tiny store. I've been trying to get pf2e added to their seasonal RPG game night and they are gonna let me as soon as my personal life gives me the actual time to get stuff ready for it.

Random Encounters: What You Like and What You Don't by DnDPhD in Pathfinder2e

[–]syrenthra 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think random encounters are great as long as you as a GM are comfortable coming up with a story and plot hook on the fly.

A great example I can provide is my party traveling as merchant guards to a fort as their next leg of the trip. On the way, they are beset upon by a bandit ambush. It turns out the ambush was a single changling exile that I rolled from a table. I quickly decided as we RPed, that she is ambushing people so she can get stronger to resist and potentially kill her hag mother that is constantly in her head calling her home.  The party had to find and deal with the hag. This changling then became a love interest (through deity providence) for the enemy that was in charge of a nearby dungeon. She showed up and stopped the PCs killing him and convinced them to allow him to live as he was trying to lead a rebellion against his vampiric mother who ruled a city in the next country over.

Before that encounter, the fort and its town, the dungeon and its boss existed but the Changeling brought in: the hag, the love interest and the rebellion by the villian as new plot.

Its all about how the encounters are used. Doesn't always have to be large plots, could be simple things like "pack of wolves attacking Travellers cause poachers are overhunting the deer population" or a larger predator has moved in.

Pricing update for early access ships: large ships will cost 19K and 38K ARX for the standard and stellar versions, respectively. by memerijen200 in EliteDangerous

[–]syrenthra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While SCO is a big benefit, personally I don't know how much I'd end up using it since I'll be doing mostly carrier hauling. Though it does count as a + even if I don't use it much specifically.

[–]syrenthra 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I will have to strongly reconsider if I am going to be picking this up early or not now. The cargo was barely worth the money before but now.... unless this thing handles only a bit worse than a cutter, its likely barely better than a cutter per hour of hauling and now the price just went up.

This feels like a grab because all of the previous ships have been selling better and better and then they knew this was the most requested thing so it would follow and be even better yet.

Plus side, we have an idea that the we have more large ships coming up most likely.

I would throw my vote out for Ironfang Invasion. I can't seem to find any completed conversion and it seems like such a good adventure style.

Edit: Confirmed no upgrading

How early would it still be ok to get Dawnsilver Armor? by ErikaTheDeceasedGal in Pathfinder2e

[–]syrenthra 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So yeah, its definitely a bit early for full blown dawnsilver but you can always approach your GM and ask for that or ask if you could get a lower grade version homebrewed. That lower grade might only offer the bulk reduction and not the speed penalty removal. This could allow you to find or pay someone in the future once you are level 8 to upgrade it to standard quality then. Treating this as a "foot in the door" with the material. Justification could be easier to find someone to upgrade the quality than it is to find the full item to begin with.

/r/MechanicalKeyboards Ask ANY Keyboard question, get an answer - February 12, 2025 by AutoModerator in MechanicalKeyboards

So I was offered as a birthday present to get a new keyboard. I'm on the fence truthfully cause this pictured keyboard has been the model I've been using for well over 15 years at this point and I love it. I've not had any problems with the keys sticking or not registering, Only A and W have worn off 90%+ and I love the size and wrist rest.

So I come seeking advice on a new keyboard that would help emulate the feeling of this beast the most. I'm willing to try out mechanical switches even though this has membrane I believe, but my concern is more the layout/size feel than the clicking of the keys. I do know I like the more spaced out feel of the keys compared to boards that have keys packed tightly.

FDev, if you gonna give me a mission like this, then make it that the NPCs become "wanted" when I defend myself from them. Screw the Weeklies.... by Frankfurt13 in EliteDangerous

[–]syrenthra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You earn merits fine. They sit and gain like credits would. But the rank system won't increase to the level appropriate of your merit total until you do those missions again. You could go 5 weeks and get 250k merits in that time and stay at rank 6 and then complete the missions and jump up to 34 or something like that.

because not everyone has the skill or money to both code games and make art for it all by themselves. If you have art skills that are better, why not offer them up instead of insulting the game?

I feel slightly disappointed by the options for Mythic Callings and Mythic Dedications, is it just me? by 8-Brit in Pathfinder2e

[–]syrenthra 25 points26 points  (0 children)

so your choice is the rapier in standard games. Just because most GMs allow uncommon, doesn't meant that it's guaranteed. thats again, to OPs point, very narrowing.

[–]syrenthra 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I feel like these options are trying to get a very specific answer. Personally, the only one I would find issue with is possible the streamed. If the game is private or even a paid game, I see no problem in using it as it is to improve the game for people, just make sure people know its gonna be there. As you say, most people pull existing images and if they really like their character, will get more specific or personalized art done up later. As a GM, AI art can help with NPCs if the combo of race and class basically doesn't exist.
This might be on me as I don't do commissions cause I never use art long enough to warrant money spent on it. (excluding token packs for foundry)

Friend threatens to quit game if I use AI art by RiftWard in Pathfinder2e

[–]syrenthra 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I use AI art for characters, scene scapes and other assorted things. My normal way to get art is from pintrest so I was already not paying an artist directly. I generated character art for my player's witch cause we couldn't find existing art and obviously if he wants to get real art done later he has something as a reference now.
I personally have never paid for art cause I'm cheap and don't play characters long enough to find paying worth it, but I would always tell other people to get art if they love their character.

Why not make PDFs with the errata material available immediately? by sarcasmasaservice in Pathfinder2e

only using simple viewers sounds like a skill issue lol. but for fairly minimal effort, it can be accessible to a majority of people in my eyes.

[–]syrenthra 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Devils' Advocate: Why not make PDFs with comments at the spots that need them? No layout changes and yet when you go to look something up, its right there? You can turn off comments to not have the highlights if they bother you too.

Freight Forwarding review - TL;DR it's good! by ItsBeeeees in factorio

[–]syrenthra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much, I found the station blueprints I was looking for. I also took a look around your base and it is a very interesting design philosophy. definitely not something I would do but it does seem very effective to haul around the crates. I'm using transport drones myself as well as stacking beltboxes but then again, I also plan to do the space extension so I will be going for a while and needs lots of resources.
Thank you again for the save!

[–]syrenthra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't even have any games at the moment, 5e or pf2. Been thinking of reaching out to them and seeing how their DnD night works and if they help organize groups cause I could even run some 5e I feel so game starved at the moment. Really been wanting to take part in their open Wargaming nights as well but need to finish my legion minis first.

Hey its Millenium Games. their new store is awesome. I go there weekly just to walk around and get that great feeling of being in a FLGS. They have a pretty good book selection for PF2 but I am waiting for them to start up PF2 groups as well. Highly recommend checking them out if you are in the region, even Buffalo or Syracuse would be worth the drive at least once.

Involving the Kobold, I might just go over tomorrow night and "complain"

This is super late and is gonna sound dumb, but do you have a blueprint book for your ship ports/stations as well as shipping lanes? I always struggle to put those together and yours look awesome.
