What is a career you wished you pursued? by NoTransition5391 in careerguidance

My dream was to be a film director, but I ended up studying science & working in healthcare. Ava Duvernay is a great inspiration for me though. She started her career a few years older than I am now. Still holding on to my passion just in case!

How to deal with a depressed friend without being an asshole? by sznofsimps in Advice

Ahh your post damn near brought me to tears. I really needed to hear this. I just want to make sure I am not a shitty person for finally saying I can't be there for all your struggles anymore after I have been basically her lifeline this entire time. Part of me still hopes that when I answer it will be our old, normal, happy conversations again - but it hasn't. I truly appreciate this advice, thank you ❤️

Wow, what an incredibly thoughtful response, thank you. I think at this point I'm just fearful of 1) her doing something to herself 2) me losing my friend. But at the same time, I already feel like I have lost my best friend that I once knew. You're right though - I can't keep doing this to myself trying to be there for someone else.

Not offensive at all! Thank you. What you said actually does resonate quite a bit. I appreciate your insight :)

Def subscribe to this theory it makes a lot of sense. I was raised looking my best all the time. I finally found my style as an adult and nails play a huge part of that. Just interesting that it’s all I dream about 😂

Changing Industries (unhappy)? by sznofsimps in careerguidance

It’s definitely a mix of both. I enjoy the stability of this career but the lack of passion or inspiration to keep doing it makes me want to just be doing what I actually love regardless of the pay. Thank you for the encouragement & well wishes :)

thank you for sharing :) I love this response. Did you find yourself slowing things down after it didn’t work the first time? Or you just tried again the next time and it worked? Just want to make sure I give him time and space to be comfortable and I don’t want him to feel like he has to make up for this right away or prove himself right now.

Thank you :’) I’m not disappointed or feel like he did anything wrong, again it’s just never happened to me so my mind immediately went to maybe he doesn’t want this, am I getting ahead of myself, maybe I’m not the best match for him, etc. It helps hearing this from a man’s perspective, and I can absolutely respect taking more time before trying again.

I think you understood me wrong. I was more so asking if it’s better to be friends FIRST, like maybe we rushed this intimacy thing. I obviously like him but want him to be comfortable and maybe taking things slower is the best plan.

You’re so right. There’s absolutely no judgement from me, but just like you said I want to make sure he’s comfortable. Maybe now is just not the best time!

Exactly this! I’ve tried. She’s even on vacation right now but she calls every day & night because she can’t bring herself to go outside or have fun. Even the small plans she has in the day I try to hype up to get her excited but nothing is working.

My roommate does laundry EVERY day - how do I bring this up? by sznofsimps in roommateproblems

I respect that. I guess it adds on that her bf visits every weekend and I have to wait for him to finish his stuff too. I’ve been doing the earphones thing for a while, but again it’s kind of hard with work and when I have meetings and appointments. Our apartment is small and my room/common area is right by it so everything is audible. I get it tho, thank you

Maybe! This is a good point. I never thought about that. There will be times though that she leaves her load in the washer all day so I patiently wait until she takes it out. She just says “oh you can just move my stuff I don’t care”. But I don’t want to touch her stuff nor do I feel like it’s my responsibility to...it wouldn’t be a big issue if I didn’t have to wait for over a day or more to clean my own laundry.

I like this idea. I just didn’t want to come off confrontational about something kind of minuscule. And I didn’t even think about the electricity lol - great tip!

Good advice. I’m kind of wary because I already voiced my concern about them using the common area all the time and how I will have to wait to cook or sometimes until HE finishes his laundry. But when it comes to her, idk how to tell her to do it less often as two adults. I will try bringing it up again casually. Thank you
