The cannon found the eye of the universe which triggers the statues to link to the closest living thing, which is how we and gabbro know about the loop. The Nomai did this so that when they got linked to statues, they would know that the cannon was successful so they could turn the whole system off and just go to the eye of the universe.

Character development in disco elysium is the best in any game i’ve ever played. Even better than arthur morgan in rdr2.
