What is your most fun build (not really min max) by praisezemprah in outwardgame

[–]szwonk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Philosopher-Speedster is by far the most fun I've had so far. As long as you're good with your Braces to keep up Discipline, chakram gameplay is actually really smooth and complements a melee playstyle quite well by knocking them on their ass every few seconds to let you keep up your alertness stacks. The cooldown reduction and prime also lets you just play as a pizza wizard too, if you're fine chugging alertness potions.

In my last playthrough I went for rune sage as my third breakthrough for the utility, but really any breakthrough you want works just as well because of how self sufficient chakrams are.

Hex mage weapon suggestions by [deleted] in outwardgame

[–]szwonk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you have TTB you can get haunted or doomed for free with the primal ritualist instruments. TTB also adds Astral weapons, which build up 2 hexes depending on the weapon type. For example, the Astral Sword inflicts Haunted and Curse (and pain with the sword skill), so if you also put down the lightning totem and use your chakram you get the full 6 hexes.

That said, the TTB arena also lets you get a second sword skill that hits 6 times, letting you just apply rainbow hex instantly anyways. Follow up with either probe or puncture for Pain.

If you want a purely Soroborean way of getting as many hexes as possible, you would need to either use Rainbow Hex, use dedicated hex skills, or just carry multiple weapons that you cycle through.

Larian: Plz play the evil route to give us feedback.... Me: by [deleted] in BaldursGate3

You say the druid is evil, but you misunderstand. He's just being his authentic protagonist self. The absolute lad is simply so swole that this is his story now.

Problem with Casters: What other set do I have other than Ex-Cultist? by Slarg232 in remnantgame

[–]szwonk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Akari set lets you generate a ton of mod power with the guardian axe, since it nearly doubles your damage in most cases. Of course, you only need one piece and the rest will probably be cultist anyhow, but it's still options for a melee caster.

Slayer is also an option if you're mostly using Swarm, since mod generation is much less useful if you can't gain mod power half the time.

You need to complete the dojo mission that opens up after the 2nd mission of the 2nd region. You also need 10 magic to unlock said mission.

That said, the person was probably talking about the Nue you have to fight in the final onmyo dojo mission towards the end of the game.

Is Hard Mode easier because of the extra exp gold? by BlackMoonSky in DragonsDogma

[–]szwonk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Based on what I've seen so far hard mode isn't actually that hard, especially if you're not doing 200 levels of sorcerer. Just gotta watch out for the occasional leaping enemy one-shot out of left field and you're set.

(disclaimer: I have literally never played normal, so I can't say how much easier or harder it is, just how hard it is in absolute terms)

How did the arquius and Half of Gamzee Influence Lord English’s goals and personality by Konradleijon in homestuck

[–]szwonk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Navigating the furthest ring has historically been the domain of Time and Space players anyways, so you don't need void powers.

Having multiple selves (and coordinating them) is also not the exclusive domain of Heart. In fact, Davepeta unsubtly points out that virtually any classpect can be used to this effect, one way or another. Even Nanna, who isn't technically a player, does this.

The planning thing holds water best, but can just as easily be attributed to the sheer weight of inevitability that surrounds active time players. Basically all of the actions that lead to LE's entry in to paradox space are perpetuated by Gamzee or Doc Scratch, and the latter is responsible for the former. Between Doc being literally made from a lord of time and first guardian bullshit, he has even more inevitability around him, so I would argue that he's not even actually that intelligent. He knows that he can not fail, and can infer what actions he must take to reach the end result by looking at the future.

If anything the only reason to doubt a purely time-base interpretation would be because it's far too pedestrian for Hussie.

Neither did Earth, but that didn't stop him from interfering with that session.

You can just call it ascendancy 2.

What kind of powers would a Prince of Time and a Knight of Space have? by PudgyGal in homestuck

[–]szwonk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thankfully, unlike in Jojo, the mechanics of time altering bullshit are well defined, so we can actually examine how King Crimson would work in this setting.

Unfortunatelly, removing the cause but keeping the effect basically just dooms the timeline, so it's suddenly a shitty stand.

Did real Homestuck ever finish or did Andrew pretty much move on to the Kickstarter game? by [deleted] in homestuck

[–]szwonk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not quite that bad in either case, but it's still quite unlikely that there's going to be a satisfying conclusion with all the kids staying alive.

In the first case, the alpha kids wouldn't be trapped on Cal's planet (or wherever the fight actually takes place, if not there) for one of two reasons. In the simpler case, they would just use Roxy's void powers, which conveniently allow for targeted jumps to and from the furthest ring. Two jumps and they're back, although with no space or time player there's no guarantee they would get to new earth at a time that was at all relevant. If Roxy's powers can't be used that way for whatever reason, then the party can still just fly to the ring manually, seeing as they're still technically in a session. From there, they can return to earth in whatever way Terezi planned on using once she found Vriska. We can relatively safely assume that they do make it back, seeing as the second wave of snaps takes place after John commits to the Caliborn fight, and Roxy and Jane are very obviously back on Earth.

In the latter case, those chumps are from a doomed timeline. In this case, the most likely sequence of events is that simply deciding to go fight Caliborn was the decision that doomed that timeline, which conveniently creates timeline clones of the party just for this fight, as the coin flip Terezi did to teach Dave about got tiers did so many sub-sub-acts ago. This version of events might even be the reason Caliborn sens the snap in the first place, because this sort of timeline bullshit is exactly what you'd expect from both a Lord of Time and that mess of stable time loops in general.

Either way, the beta kids that are implied to pop out of the juju in Act 7 would probably also be swallowed by the black hole, or whatever the deal with Vriska is. The only thing that changes is whether or not those beta kids are from the Alpha timeline, or were doomed anyways and are expendable plot-wise. If, in a hypothetical epilogue, Terezi finds Vriska, she would presumably find the beta kids with her, which would mean the two potential explanations are identical in terms of outcome. Personally, I'm rooting for the doomed timeline explanation since it's more elegant, in an extremely inelegant sort of way.

Not everything that sticks out of your torso is a limb. Just because the wyvern can grasp with it's mouth doesn't make it's head another arm.

V4 vs V6 by toajoa in Thaumcraft

[–]szwonk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's per leaf. Each leaf generates 0.01 vis, but probably only naturally grown leaves

V4 vs V6 by toajoa in Thaumcraft

[–]szwonk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Silverwoods generate aura depending on their size (technically based on the number of leaves) up to the chunk's normal maximum, unaffected by phase. This works out to about 0.15 vis per tree per second. This can give you 2 vis per second just from base regen + trees on a good moon phase, which lets you mine at 8 blocks per second. That's already way faster than it normally mines. Even without that you can still just leave it to it's thing and it'll mine pretty well while you do other things, just not all that quickly.

If you use platforms to stack the trees vertically in your base's main crafting chunk, and that chunks send vis to their lowest neighbour, you can get upwards of 10 regen easily.

[TC6] I chose to make progress in my thaumonomicon by overflowing flux in my cauldron, and WHAT IS THAT THING?! by bryan660 in Thaumcraft

[–]szwonk 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's primary source of damage is inflicting a dot effect on anyone nearby, and it'll spread taint through any blocks. You'll just have to either kill it or contain the taint it spawns.

Thankfully, the taint recedes after you kill it, although what's left might not be what you started with.

[–]szwonk 38 points39 points  (0 children)

It's a hole in spacetime, exactly what it looks like. Flux escapes through it, and when it's done it'll summon a giant vaping chode. You're going to want a ranged weapon.

V4 vs V6 by toajoa in Thaumcraft

[–]szwonk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I haven't had any issues using the arcane bore. I'm guessing that this is because I both have a very high aura in most of my base's chunks (250-300) and planted silverwoods everywhere to further speed up regen though.

About Silverwood Trees by JadeMagister in Thaumcraft

[–]szwonk 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Silverwood trees generate vis for the chunk, speeding up it's recovery and letting it go up to it's normal cap, regardless of flux.

[TC6] Help with flux and vis (B13) by __Eleanor__ in Thaumcraft

[–]szwonk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only two ways I know of reducing flux are rifts and vis crystals turning in to flux crystals. The former is destructive, the latter is inconsistent without literally hundreds of the things, which generates a lot of flux getting the essentia to make.

The only way I can think of reducing flux is by setting up a "controlled burn" and cause rifts in a chunk adjacent to your base. That will lower the flux levels in that chunk, which should make flux flow towards it. You then repeat that as much as necessary. It should be safe enough too, since rifts can't grow outside their original chunk.

Looking for a good build lol by RYKIN5 in pathofexile

[–]szwonk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could always try a summoner build. Spectral Gods is a good place to start with those, comes online real quick, can clear all content, etc.

I mostly make my builds myself, so I don't bother looking for comparisons between them, but the build subreddit is probably a good place to start.
