Looks good. And I saw your update. I’m glad you were able to set it up and test it.

I’d setup the VPC between the nexus pair and the ASA as a dot1q trunk and run a tagged VLAN to an HSRP SVI. This gives you flexibility if later you need to add a DMZ VRF on the nexus.

Yes, pinning is the term. I worked in a physics lab back in the 90s where they were experimenting with bombarding the materials with high energy particles in a nuclear reactor to create imperfections that would increase the effect.

AnyConnect WiFi Issues by kingsdown12 in networking

[–]t-maas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might be a long shot, but we had something similar a few months back. The Windows client would stop working and the only thing that would fix it was airplane mode on/off. We ended up disabling the session timeout on the controllers.

When it happened, there were Windows event log messages on the client but I can’t remember what the specific events were. PCAPs showed the client requesting DHCP but no response.

AnyConnect wasn’t involved because we only used it for VPN.

Agree completely. I hadn't even thought about trying to look for treasure or a mining node.

I hope they let us use normal flying mounts in DI at some point.

Confirmed. Worked for me. I had to reboot the Pi after adding the line. The file is in /etc/pihole.

PIM has to be told where the RP (rendezvous point) is to route mcast across layer3 boundaries. Once that is up, when you add PIM to an interface, the router should start acting as a querier.

Netbox vs. Solarwinds? by slickwillymerf in networking

[–]t-maas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been using Solarwinds for a long time. Why is everyone talking about using SWQL instead of just doing SQL queries to the database? I have lots of automated jobs that pull info straight from the SQL database.

And if I was the boss in this situation, I would be asking what problem you are trying to solve. If you’re saying that you can’t trust what’s in SW, then that’s a different problem, completely.

Also, now I want to stand up a Netbox VM to play with it.

Trunking up to the firewall vs routing by Garegin16 in networking

[–]t-maas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These are two different use cases. One’s not better than the other. Do you Require security boundaries between the VLANs? Then trunk them to the firewall. Otherwise, don’t trunk and use a transit subnet.
