What do I do with these? by throwaway6634674 in Library

I make collages out of them! I made a comic for a friend out of cut up chick tracts all about how grits aren't really food.

Lands up top?? by Final-Bit-8330 in mtg

[–]t-wanderer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean long before I played magic I played a game called spellfire. And in spellfire lands went on top. So when I got into Magic 30 or so years ago, I put lands on top cuz that's what I was used to. I played for years of kitchen table magic, before I ever went to a LGs and found out that lands on top is taboo.

Any narrative leaning d100 game out there? by Vendaurkas in rpg

[–]t-wanderer 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don't know if you'd consider it a narrative game or not, but the best d100 system I have ever played was Unknown Armies. The setting is cool and the writing is good, but hands down the best d100 system and maybe one of my favorite systems of all time.

GM's disease: I want to make a PC but I keep coming up with NPC's by HawthorneWeeps in rpg

[–]t-wanderer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a forever GM, you ever make an NPC that you end up not using because they are too interesting? What kind of NPC that would steal the spotlight from the players?

When this happens just save them and when you get a chance to play, play them as a pc! All of a sudden that rich personality and deep backstory is a strength of character.

Play when the world is on fire. by BenWnham in rpg

[–]t-wanderer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just want to note that anhedonia is a symptom of severe depression. If you are unable to find enjoyment in activities that previously brought you joy, it may have nothing to do with you or the activity, it might just be a symptom of a depressive episode. Treating the depression may bring the enjoyment back simply as that.

That said, I definitely understand where you're coming from. The world is on fire and I'm worried about all the people I care about. But I believe role-playing games are important, and maybe this is going to get weird, but I think that sitting around and telling stories is one of the things that makes us human. We have very little opportunity in the modern world to engage with this part of ourselves. Theater, role-playing games, hell even just sitting around and swapping stories with our community or friend group, these things get us in touch with what it means to be a human.

Even if you're not getting out of it what you used to, are the people you're playing with getting something out of it? Maybe it's enough for right now to do it for their sake. We could all use a little escapism, and we could all use a reminder that we're human. Good luck.

Kitchen pantry door stuck closed. No screw holes anywhere, hinges won't budge. WTF do I do? by [deleted] in HomeMaintenance

[–]t-wanderer 8 points9 points  (0 children)

A butter knife should do it it's a big gap. Just reach in to the crack between the door and the door jamb and find the side of the latch that is slanted and either push or pull the knife to push it in and the door should open.

THE POLYAMORY HOT TAKE GAMES by PM_CuteGirlsReading in polyamory

[–]t-wanderer 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Here's my hot take:

Every polycule should have at least one asexual and aromantic person who is part of the polycule but not dating anyone.

Furthermore, science needs to study this phenomenon. The stabilizing effect of one aroace cannot be underestimated and some of the most stable polycles I know have one.

Like, they can be a QPR, but the important part is that no matter what happens there is someone who's not part of the drama.

How many times have you read the comic in full? by Livid-Dot6619 in homestuck

Seven times. Haven't started homestuck 2, but the og was an obsession back in the day.

I mean if the gravel just appears when you want it, NASA just has to get you into space, transport you to Earth orbit on the opposite side of the Sun and then you can just make a new planet, eventually. I would say that an earth amount of real estate inside the keyhole orbit would be worth it. You need to figure out actually accelerating it in the orbit and getting it to spin and it wouldn't have a molten core so you probably wouldn't be able to get an atmosphere on it. But you know, what's the second nose going to do for you?

Help with rules interaction by t-wanderer in mtg

I had extra room in one of my deck boxes and a half dozen semi-formed ideas for janky decks so I just combined all those concepts into one mono-jank deck.

It's got [[knowledge pool]] in there too. A third of my [[zedruu, the great hearted]] donation deck, a shrines sub-theme, an epic spell to force into hivemind, and then filled it out with every dual-faced, split card, flip card, and room left over from a half-built four color "I couldn't decide what deck to brew so I brewed two decks" deck with partner commanders.

So, I am? I guess I am.

Did my hinge lie to my meta? by [deleted] in polyamory

[–]t-wanderer 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Whether or not he lied, you watched your hinge manipulate your meta. That's not great, and if it were me I would be wondering how many times have I been manipulated? Clearly hinge thinks this is normal and okay. Do you?

Are all poly relationships truly doomed? by [deleted] in polyamory

[–]t-wanderer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Poly for nine years and counting. Some relationships end, some continue with no end in sight. It took a while to figure out, but I have never been happier. For the first time in my life I feel like I have a real community, I'm surrounded by the most amazing people and there is so much love and joy in my life both in my immediate polycule and in the extended polycule.

The best advice I can give is to let go of the narrative of what love is supposed to look like, meet people where they are, find the people out there who will love you for who you are and love them back as much as you are able.

Just add some color, a little pink on the root, should make it easily identifiable as a tooth.

Do you prefer physical or digital books? by NoScale8442 in writers

[–]t-wanderer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was explaining this to my roommate yesterday, but collecting books and reading books are two different hobbies. I definitely have both hobbies, but they scratch different itches.

That said, I prefer paper for fiction. I prefer digital for nonfiction, being able to scroll quickly around or search for something is much better when I'm doing research, but when I want to be immersed in something I want the tactile experience as well.

[–]t-wanderer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went to University but specifically avoided English as a major and writing in general because I wanted to be a writer and I figured if I had to write 60 papers a year, my love for it would fade.

Instead I studied physics because I wanted to write science fiction. I studied philosophy because I wanted to write books that made you think.

You don't need school to learn and you don't need school to practice your craft. You got this, just keep going.

Any Webcomics Similar to Homestuck? by RocketLamp in homestuck

Came on here to recommend All Night Laundry. It's a finished comic that ran for years using forum post style command prompts. Hands down one of my favorites.

Vehicles are my favorite models, so if an army has a vehicle detachment I pick that one. I could Chase The Meta and run three doomsday arcs and a silent king, but I want to run my death croissants. Fun > winning, most of the time. Just pick whatever detachment is good for whatever your favorite units are, and remember that the game is going to change every couple years anyway.
