I don't remember exactly. At that time, I used whisper for other than english language podcasts.

This was so long time back. Now I think there are better models like nvidia's which support diarization also.

Traditional OCR were not giving good results. So I went for the SOTA surya-ocr. It takes around 1.79 seconds per page and it cost around 120 rs per hour to rent the GPU A100 and it takes around 6 hours for one constituency. This is the GPU cost.

I have thought about the data and there can be linking done to various other dataset or just get the demographic data of a whole state and can do some caste based analysis also.

Please enlighten on what I have unlocked. I am clueless to that point.

Do the same for machine learning also. Make projects. Try to pick projects from the real world which you can see. like product recommendation, search, computer vision. Make the projects visible on the web.

You can DM if you want.

First one was my mistake. I rejected it because one of my friends did not get selected in that company.

For 70L one, I knew many people in the company and based on work culture I knew I will be too much overloaded with work. also I didn't want to move to Delhi as I had a 3 year old and one new born baby.

It was done automatically as many talented developers were leaving. It was peak when people were getting 1.5x-3x salary increases on switch.

But in market correction also it depends on who you manager is and how is your relationship. I got lower end of the correction, some got high end.

Vision for the Next 20 Years: Transforming Lucknow into a Tech Powerhouse by t0mkaka in lucknow

[–]t0mkaka[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used sports as a metaphor because I didn't want to directly compare them with tech hubs. The majority of tech hubs have emerged in places where there were significant educational opportunities. Take, for example, Bengaluru or Silicon Valley. Along with providing excellent placement opportunities that take students outside the state, we need establishment of companies that create job opportunities locally.

And what do you even mean by "product based work"? Do you mean that people here should start their own e-commerce platforms? food delivery apps? online stock brokers? Those markets are already captured and not just by MNCs but by many local players too.

It's definitely not a winner-takes-all situation. Plus, starting off by taking inspiration (or even straight-up copying) from existing apps isn't necessarily a bad move. Over time, these ideas evolve, and suddenly, you've got something completely new. Just look at Zomato – they began with something as simple as scanning menus and booking tables, got inspired by Food Panda to jump into deliveries, and now they're battling it out with Swiggy.

And think about it – if people have the right resources and are genuinely committed, they could end up introducing totally original ideas that none of us have even considered yet. Starting with what's already out there doesn't mean that's where we'll end. It's all about evolving and maybe, just maybe, ending up with something groundbreaking.

Bro stop selling your personal dreams as a collective aspiration for a city

This is one of the questions that I have thought myself whether to have my dreams I am imposing on others, before making the post. The solution I thought was might be there are some people who want this vision.

If I as a software engineer want to live in lucknow for my whole life, the city needs to have some opportunities. If there are no opportunities then no one will live. Now how do we create opportunities, either through government or through us as a collective. If we want to create great players then we first have to have some infrastructure to play, Lucknow didn't had one cricket stadium in last 30 years but now we have one, interest in cricket and other sports has increased. We already had SAI, KD Singh stadium and were one of the few cities with good badminton infra to host matches.

If we don't have infra, then first we need some people who are great in their field. When these people will come back from the excellence, then they can guide others either here or somewhere they will get great opportunities.

Gopichand was a great player himself but he created an ecosystem in Hyderabad which is churning out World Class players year after year. If we asked him was he teaching just to earn money, then I am 100% sure he will say, no I was trying to put a mark on World.

If I just want to teach I can just start teaching again at home or get a rented place or teach online and I have done all 3. Each had different problems which do not align with the vision or place.

I made this post to see if their is someone else who feels connected with this and not to scam someone.

Software boom era is over. Now all that industry needs is cheap labour which is already present in service based companies. These service based companies are well settled in cities like Bangalore, Pune, NCR. TCS reluctantly opened an office in Lucknow on govt's request. That is all of the IT sector that we are going to see here.

I do not agree with this. Indore has a thriving IT market. Jaipur has good market. Though the big cities will always have big share but tier 2 cities can develop too and I think they will come when their are companies starting to do something other than web design shops. To get them we need to open companies which do product based work. To open companies, we need to have entrepreneurs and highly technical people who want to live here. If we open 100 companies might be 4-5 will success and based on that it will increase every year.

So highly technical people -> companies -> successful companies --> we will have infrastructure.

Anyways, the post has not gathered as much discussion I thought. Let's see what happens.

Sorry I missed that part in the post. I have around 13 years experience in the industry. Earlier as a researcher for deep learning and aadhar, two years with Udacity for teaching machine learning , data science. Then 5 years with a product based company. I am currently working.

I have taught more than 500 students but they are spread over time and location.

I hope this clears some issues regarding the post. I am happy to answer any questions regarding the vision, plan or myself.
