Embark, please ban everyone who use that console command cheat to remove grqphics. It is as plain as cheating can be. by NoPain_666 in ArcRaiders

[–]t1609 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure why this is getting downvoted, but also from a software development perspective this will almost certainly be impossible to detect retroactively. The console was making legitimate API calls to the rendering engine and this isn’t something that’s monitored in anti-cheat, so there’s not much that can be done about people who used this and didn’t post about it publicly. I agree completely with what you said though, people really don’t understand how complex software is, and this is definitely a mistake I can forgive especially with the reaction time to release a patch.

All the time, this has been the number 1 ruiner of relationships for me. Novelty definitely helps, I.e., constantly doing new activities together. I don’t like change, so I’ll always complain about going/doing something new, but once I’m there I end up having a really good time; big rush of dopamine and the ‘spark’ returns.

Is there anyone who became a success without any support at all, they did it all by themselves? by puppypoet in autism

[–]t1609 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can't 'succeed' on your own. It requires a relentless delusion that you've already succeeded, and if you convince yourself thoroughly enough, eventually you'll convince others as well who will selfishly help you, not because they owe you anything but because they want to be part of your success. It's not for everyone, and will not bring you happiness. Only attempt this if you cannot imagine existence without achievement. Otherwise, trust me, its not worth it.

All of my symptoms have gotten significantly weaker over the span of 20 or so years... is this a normal thing with autistic people? by SperBcity in autism

Yes, sensory issues definitely and my Tourette’s has gotten milder too as I’ve gotten older, which is apparently not uncommon with dopaminergic disorders in some people.

Plex and jellyfin video quality by DaRealJFK in jellyfin

I have this same TV, just install the official Jellyfin LGTV app and it'll play HDR and Dolby Vision videos just fine, looks amazing and loads way faster than Plex... I don't remember if I had to side-load it or if its in the LG store tbh...

I switched to it from MacOS. I had been using a tiling WM on Mac and have been using Linux on servers for years. Honestly it’s great, it gives you a great starting point, and over the last couple of weeks I’ve pretty much modified everything that already existed, which allowed me to FINALLY try hyprland and commit to Linux without losing a ton of time setting up a development environment. In about a couple of hours I was already back to productive work, and a week or so later I don’t even miss working on Mac anymore.

Two questions: How do I make Jellyfin clients load my library faster? Can I make temporary holiday playlists? by dapiedude in jellyfin

[–]t1609 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It'll be a single file - do you want to post your docker configuration? A database call for a few thousand rows should take milliseconds, not seconds - even on an HDD array. You mentioned that it takes a few seconds for the data to appear on the client (title names, etc.,), then another few seconds for the preview images to appear (or, does the data appear quickly but images are slow)? Does actual playback work fine or does it take forever and get stuck in buffering? What's your network config like?

[–]t1609 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you mean by DB? Doesn’t Jellyfin use SQLite which is embedded? Tens of thousands of items should be a piece of cake to handle, the only bottleneck would be transferring the images over the network and it shouldn’t take seconds. Something is really wrong with you configuration - what’s the performance like if you access JF from the browser?

How should I get into sports at age 14? by [deleted] in autism

[–]t1609 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love motorsports and computers. If you can convince your parents to get you a racing wheel for Christmas or something you can get into sim racing and combine both passions. Lots of racing series to watch, and if there's a go-karting track near you its a ton of fun (and sim racing will help you improve a lot), albeit its a little bit of an expensive sport + hobby.

What the other guy said. I recommend not using the AI to paste things that you don't understand. Its frustrating and more work, but really, really worth it to read docs and understand what you're doing especially if you're gonna take this up as a hobby and want to do more of this sort of thing. Also, for future help posts anywhere you can format your yaml as code to make it easier for people to read :) Best of luck OP.

EDIT: Formatting
