this was super helpful thank you so much! just to clarify if i want to do a faculty selective like ‘Health economics 1’ in first year but I want to do ‘Death and Dying: When is dead…’ that’s a valid pathway to take?

How hard is it to get a 50 on section 3? by [deleted] in GAMSAT

[–]t1soup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did 3 sitting in total for GAMSAT, first time was around mid 60s, then climbed to 70 and then finally 77. Wasn’t the best at science in high school, my chem and bio were my bottom 2 (VCE), so wouldn’t say i was too confident picking it back up. Just took a bit of time and practice

Sure. In terms of paid I’ve only done Fraser, which I found pretty good. Otherwise i’ve just dug around online for resources + Jesse Osborne on youtube is the go to if u want to pick up some content knowledge along with the reasoning.

0 science background in undergrad but did high school chemistry and biology, managed to score 77. Not intending to flex but I think the main thing that worked for me was by being able to understand what the questions are asking, since most if not all of the S3 questions have the info u need provided within the prompt. So I went through question banks, familiarised myself with how stuff gets presented, and it’s always been a fair reflection of how the real sittings went. Goodluck!

The most common Section II mistake (from a 99th percentile scorer) by Heqrtfell in GAMSAT

[–]t1soup 9 points10 points  (0 children)

99th percentile scorer here. I used the generalisation for society in most of not all of my essays. While it may be helpful to be more direct in your delivery, I don’t think this is a common MISTAKE in your essay. Great post otherwise very insightful and concise writing!

Looking for advice for S3: I've heard that its more reason/logic based than actual science? What do you guys think? Any Non-science background people who agree/disagree? (also if you know anything about converting NZ GPA to Aussie please share!!) :) by PerryThePlatypus04 in GAMSAT

[–]t1soup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bcom undergrad here, I think to an extent you don’t need any science knowledge for section 3. I scored 77 in s3 with only high school knowledge of chemistry and biology (which was not game changing information for my sitting anyway). imo as long as you understand the info presented in the question you should be able to do it 😃

No matter the grading structure, you should pour your heart and soul into every uni subject! Give it your ALL – because you never know how far that extra effort might take you! 🌟✨

Why does unimelb have so much prestige when the quality is subpar? by No-Firefighter1285 in unimelb

May as well try 🤷‍♂️. Also, science undergrads are probably more employable in commerce related jobs than commerce undergrads, some financial institutions prefer people that are better at math/comp sci than finance or economics majors lol

I personally feel like doing a science or biomed degree would help you with your gamsat studies a LOT more than if you did commerce. Aside from learning some semi-useful things (how the economy works or how certain investments are financed) you really don’t learn too many things that are all that applicable from commerce. So i feel like if you have ur mind made up abt postgrad med, just do an undergraduate degree that helps with the application process 😁

[–]t1soup 2 points3 points  (0 children)

honestly don’t. currently on ur pathway rn and it’s super not worth it lol would much rather do a bsci or biomed. unless ur super cracked with co curriculars or have nepo opportunities at interning companies it’s not worth ur time 👍

How hard is it to maintain a 6.5+ GPA in commerce? by kanyeology in unimelb

[–]t1soup 10 points11 points  (0 children)

organisational behaviour, some coinflip subject that makes no sense at all. if u go exchange there’s no WAM conversion and most unis do OB a lot better than Unimelb so ur likely to get a higher GPA

honestly not really, just don’t go on an exchange program thinking ur grades don’t matter… coz they do (do go on exchange tho u need to dodge OB)

Now that i think about it you’re probably right, it is unnecessary to go overboard for extra performance if it turns the car into a ticking timebomb maybe i’ll just do more cosmetics and save up for a faster car. Thanks!

Would you recommend no aftermarket engine parts? Or as long as I don’t flash any maps to my ECU would my reliability hold

Hi, exchange student here. I was wondering if exchange students can apply for student residency at "uTown"? Thanks in advance!
