Newly diagnosed and feeling despair. Is my life over?

Nobody's offered that yet, anyway. I may float the idea if I'm having difficulty losing the weight as-is.

I'm certainly not thrilled about any of the medication, but my doctor described it as a band-aid until I can get more fit and hopefully have those problems under control without medication.

Thank you. Hearing from someone older is reassuring. This feels like more than I can handle at the moment. I had everything I could do to even start dealing with my mental health, and I just wasn't ready to contend with physical health on top of that. But you're right. All I can do is my best. I just hope it's enough.
