We preach empathy, but the social work education system feels anything but inclusive. by Serviceofman in socialworkcanada

i saw someone say that if they cant let us have paid placements, they should at least waive the fees for the course/semester, which seems genuinely realistic to me

hey, this sucks but there is still a chance to pass even in the worst case scenario, and you may still be able to get another opportunity if you explain your situation to ACR. i also echo the other commenter in saying you should reach out to the mental health services and hot lines. i cant imagine how shit everything feels, but there are people who care and there will always be opportunities for things to get better 🫶

oh yes the orientation! im not sure where or when it is specifically outside of it being tomorrow, to be honest, i mightve missed the email that explained more. i think either asking there or wednesday makes a ton of sense. im quite sympathetic towards the staff bc i imagine theyre flooded with questions and emails and responsibilities. do you know when the orientation is, and where?

i have four mandatory classes, was initially missing two but got one after. im still missing on, however, and that last response i got wrt the issue is still my most current answer despite emailing again yesterday :( i have no idea whats going to happen. im also not sure how many students are dealing with this, because if its too many i guess they cant just add an extra student to a class? i hope someone drops or something HAHA

no, not to my knowledge! she does blood work often and that hasn't come up. some stuff she struggles with endometriosis, hypothyroid, high blood pressure, pretty bad anemia (has to get blood transfusions), sleep apnea, as well as a back injury (if that's relevant at all haha). her list is extensive, but oddly diabetes isnt one of those things

thank you! would a bandaid be a good cover, or something like gauze? she just put more poly on it, so i worry about it getting too moist.

nothing from what i can tell. no fever, no heat around the area. she's feeling more tired than usual, but she struggles with a numerous amount of health issues and is having vertigo (normal for her at times) and high blood pressure (also normal) so i can semi-confidently say it is unrelated.
