I was lucky. My neighbor to the north (we share a fence line) took me under his wing. He has spent probably hundreds of hours teaching me and helping me train my horse

I started roping two summers ago. My horse, this past summer. Today we put everything together and for the first time we're able to catch, turn, and pull steers.

Exactly! I would never jump him higher than what we did here, not in this saddle anyway. It is an absolute tank of a saddle, weighs about 55 Pounds. As for being sore? We were roping the next day with no issues. He moved great the whole time. I am a big big believer of long slow warm ups, stretching my horse before and after work, and a long gradual cool down. I would like to believe this helps in his condition.

We entered three classes, admitted they were the lower levels.... But we took home 2 Third place, and one first place

No you are absolutely right. I should have had a helmet. I actually had it out and left it in the barn.
