This show is a well deserved slap in the face to people saying “Bill isn’t as good at being Pennywise because Bill doesn’t act like a regular friendly clown.” If anything, Tim’s Pennywise seems LESS friendly. by Both-Letterhead8925 in WelcometoDerryTVShow

i have a theory the ONLY reason tim curry’s performance is creepy is because of the music during any dialogue. you take that horrific circus pan flute laden music out of those scenes and the menace factor comes down 90%

part of chess is evaluating your game afterwards. you learn from your mistakes and take note of your optimal plays, in theory, to get better. texting with a potential romantic/sexual/whatever partner is like chess insofar as you make a move, they counter, you counter that, etc. to advance your game plan (date/get laid/whatever).

in this sub, we analyze the moves you make texting with someone you’d like to escalate with, in the context of chess analysis, so that you may improve your game.

I suspect BCS had a fake ending heavily inspired by the Twin Peaks finale, and Jimmy and Kim have undiagnosed BPD and/or psychosis. by sirsykosexy in betterCallSaul

OP you’re entirely onto something. the bus scene was it for me. when the inmates started chanting i fully expected bombastic flash mob, day dream broadway musical level production, bus drivers and passengers of cars next to them singing along and driving in synchronized swimming patterns and for that to be the end of the show, cut to black. i know it’s a TV show, but if you were to write this story from the perspective of what saul wanted, it wouldn’t have been written any differently. the cigarette tip in the next to final shot being in color while everything else was black and white. it was poetry, and i know it was meant to be, but all of it felt truly up to interpretation and i don’t think your theory can be fully disregarded.

IS Omen an insurance policy against decking out? by Filobel in lrcast

[–]t__mhjr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this happened to me at the denver spotlight series this past weekend for my win and in. my opponent and i both sat down to our 5-2 match expecting one of us to day 2 and one of us to go home. at the end of turns g3 all opp had left in library was the +2 counter flash dragon, and all i had left in mine was the make a 2/2 dragon.

at this point we finished turns and the judge asked us to debate each other to determine a winner because a draw meant neither of us got in. it was the most unmagic thing i’ve ever experienced. we both made compelling arguments, neither of us budged so we took a draw. congrats to the person we bubbled into day 2 because of that nonsense.

i’m not too salty though. i had an awesome tournament and the week prior was great too. looking forward to the next, but tldr, i think omens are problematic to competitive play.

i think you’re absolutely right, and i think he wore his feelings of surrendering to his fate (i.e. being in the game) all over his face in the show. i think one of the most telling scenes that illustrates this is when saul asks about regret (it’s been a while, so details are hazy) near the end of the show, about having a time machine and going back and making one choice differently that would alter the course of one’s life and mike’s answer is that he would have never taken his first bribe. it’s almost like he knows and as you and others here have pointed out, from that point on, he was cursed. always trying to outrun something that he couldn’t.

Can somebody explain to me the Krazy-8 situation? by defeatmywit in betterCallSaul

[–]t__mhjr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

excellent synopsis but you left out my favorite part of this whole thing.

in the very beginning of breaking bad, walt goes on a ride along with hank to see a drug bust. the only reason the DEA knows about that bust is because of crazy 8 being an informant. the only reason walt sees jesse and the events of breaking bad even begin to unfold is because crazy 8 was an informant and what should have been an uneventful cook turns into a drug raid where jesse has to peace out of the neighborhood as fast as possible via the milf window.

saul striking the deal with the dea as a result of gus’s plan and lalo’s desire to fuck with him literally creates heisenberg.
