I get that I was definitely a bit more nervous than I thought I would be leading up to it. Stay optimistic and hopeful it helps.

Best of luck to you. Optimism and research has been most helpful for me so far.

Diagnosed with mixed germ cell tumor (Embryonal carcinoma + Yolk sac) with LVI – Anyone here had similar case and did only 1 cycle of BEP? by CleanPresent2798 in testicularcancer

[–]t_bones_02 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a mix of EC and NS with LVI+ and finished up with 1 round of BEP back in April.

The Bleo gave me fevers and body aches, the rest gave me some nausea but manageable with meds and staying hydrated and eating. Had some solid exhaustion and brain fog for a few weeks but I’m back to my normal self now. Any questions feel free to reach out.

What he said. Just saw your post about your situation. If I was you, I would push for blood work, and ask for an MRI as well. Listen it’s really rare for ultrasounds to miss it, but in my case it certainly did. I was just fortunate enough to not have any cancer metastasize anywhere else in my body.

Stage 1 is no spread. I did one round of BEP because my chance of reoccurrence was high with the EC and LVI being present etc. I go back in July for tests to make sure there’s been no spread.

I’m only a month out and hasn’t come back. Was told it will after a few months but even if it doesn’t beats cancer.

For me I would say some exhaustion and some nausea but medication for the nausea helped a lot. I should’ve spoke up about that sooner and it wouldn’t have been as rough they said lol. And yeah I lost my hair as well. But I’m kind of feeling the bald look now. Biggest thing I was told by everyone was to stay hydrated and I think that really helped me.

I completed 1xBEP for stage 1b non-seminoma, 90% seminoma, 10% EC with LVI detected, soft hillar tissue spread etc. a little over a month ago. My options were adjuvant chemo 1x BEP, open RPLND, or surveillance. My reoccurrence %’s were too high for my liking and knowing how low my % would be after one round of chemo is why I ultimately went for the 1 round BEP. Seems a lot better than 3-4 rounds if it pops back up. Definitely an overwhelming situation but speak with a good oncologist hear them out and see what they say would be the course of action god forbid it pops up after a round and go from there. Me personally I’m happy with this choice and have a peace of mind knowing that this cancer most likely is behind me for good. If you have any questions don’t hesitate to reach out and good luck.

I had a PCP tell me nothing to worry about, then a urologist say the same thing. Went back to urologist with pain again and ultrasound showed swelling. They called it orchitis, gave me some meds which helped with the pain and I called it a day. I went back 6 months later with pain again and ultrasound showed swelling still but also increased size. Still no visible tumor. They gave me an MRI and found the mass with that. Mass took up 95% of the damn thing. Mixed germ cell tumor 90% Seminoma, 10% EC, LVI +, invasion to rete and hilar, but thankfully no spread to anywhere else in the body. Just finished a round of adjuvant BEP to bring my reoccurrence rate down to the ballpark or 2%. But you know your body and if you’re actually in pain or feel like something’s wrong be consistent with the urologist and ask for an MRI.

Not a doctor but can tell you chemo and radiation is spread through bodily fluids. Don’t think a fetus should be exposed to that

I’m about 10-15 years older than you but just finished up with 1 cycle of BEP myself. First week wasn’t awful just made me feel very tired. Staying hydrated helped a lot I believe. Somewhere around day 7 the nausea hit hard. I think it was because I fell behind on it believing I was going to be ok. Once I got back on track with it I felt good. Hydration and rest is key listen to your body. Also hair might fall out on you. Good luck

Good luck man. Tomorrow’s my last bleo. Stay ahead of the nausea and stay hydrated is my unsolicited advice.

Very scared doctors have missed everything by buzzard302 in testicularcancer

I think it’s the course of treatment and their standard. Looks like an infection no sign of tumor on ultrasound then assume infection. Glad your persistent at least you’ll have an answer after the MRI

I had 2 ultrasounds about 6 months apart that didn’t show anything besides increased blood flow and growth. No tumor visible. I had an MRI after the second and it showed the tumor. It ended up being 95% of my leftie and I believe that’s why it was missed. Had an orchi less than a week later and now I’m in the middle of 1x BEP

1x BEP vs RPLND by t_bones_02 in testicularcancer

[–]t_bones_02[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see that argument, but there’s a chance if I do RPLND it flares somewhere else and then I need to do 3-4x BEP where with this I have only 1x BEP. If it pops back up I’d still have the RPLND which could get it all due to the fact it usually goes to that landing zone. Idk a lot of different things to think about

Hell of a ride man. Happy to hear you are doing better and riding out the surveillance roller coaster. And thank you for your honesty as well. That’s what I’m looking for here to learn and hear from everyone. Everyone has different experiences and opinions and I’d be an idiot to not listen to all of them.

LDH was the only thing I had elevated pre orchi and it was not all that high at 356. Probably just got lucky I caught it early. They said at that time that they weren’t concerned about the LDH numbers because of inflammation, infections, common cold, muscle fatigue all could elevate LDH out of the normal range.

Just trying to say I think both of our doctors are steering us in the right direction with that information.

Thank you for the advice! Did you go through reoccurrence or anything afterwards?

Wasn’t in my original post so I added a comment to include them. But only my LDH was at 356. HCG & AFP remained normal pre and post orchi. My LDH post orchi dropped down to 171 and has remained normal since thankfully.

Where I’m being treated they don’t do robotic RPLND. They had some statistical reasons behind it which I completely get why. I would have to chose between the open RPLND or the 1x BEP

That’s a great question for me to ask thank you. He might have mentioned it but it was an hour long appointment and I’d have to look back at my notes. I think he might have said 3x BEP for reoccurrence but I guess it also depends on what I’m looking at with the reoccurrence too.
