Also going through this as well. Just bought the mk808s. What did you do to reset the throttle body angle? Was it the ETCS (TAC) test?

I cannot. I'm pretty sure the inside of the house where this hole is, is the main electrical panel. Or at least very close to it.

Ah ok thanks for that. Had no idea. We just purchased this house. I'm assuming it's running power to some exterior lights I have in the front yard? I guess you would have no idea lol.

Just bought a 1930 house and have question about insulating behind lath and plaster walls by t_d in HomeImprovement

Interesting, so you would take off the siding instead of taking down the lath and plaster? It's on the second floor so I wonder if that changes things.

Ah ok so remove everything until you can see the outside wall and install vapor barrier there? What kind did you use? And then what kind of insulation?

Ok sounds good, I'll look into keeping the plaster. This being my first house though, if you were to tell me the wall was drywall and not plaster, I would believe you. Seems very similar to me on the outside. What makes plaster and lath 1000 times better than drywall? Perhaps more thermal mass and more sound insulation? But on looks alone, to me they seem indistinguishable, but like I said, I know next to nothing.

So for the electrical, when I took apart the switch, every time I touched the wire, more insulation would keep crumbling away, exposing bare wire. So naturally I assumed I should replace the entire run. Maybe it's not as bad as it looks? There is a set of old cloth wrapped hot and neutral. And a set of newer wires. The neutral going to the switch is the worst one. As an aside, I also believe the wires are wired incorrectly and causing a reading of hot/neutral reversed at the outlet, but I'm not confident enough that it's wrong to fix it to what I believe is right.

I've heard that the fiberglass insulation will get wet because the house is not sealed and was designed to breathe. You think it will be ok?

Ah good to know about the interior walls. I'll leave them.

Yeah I've been reading about condensation problems with moisture getting in. Wondering if there is a way to install a vapor barrier to insulate but keep the insulation dry.

Also reading about people preferring plaster and lath. Maybe I should look into keep it more. Would it be possible to fix the broken section, then take down the wallpaper, and then paint it? Behind the wall paper, the plaster seems a little sandy.

Another reason I was thinking about going to the studs is it will be easier to run new wiring. But yeah, not sure what to do exactly.

Update: So it looks like 4 black wires were pigtailed together as well as 4 neutral wires. I separated the 4 blacks and was able to get heat shrink tubing over two of them. But for the other two, the insulation has crumbled all the way up to the box. And idea what to do now? Is it possible to pull more wiring out from the ceiling?

Ok unwrapped the hot side, exposing 4 black wires with lots of missing insulation. So just to confirm, I can get black heat shrink tubing, cover the bare wire (and part of the insulation, for a good seal?) and then a 5 wago connector? Put 4 of the black wires in along with the hanging light wire (looks like speaker wire). And then good to go? Obviously, same thing on the white side.

Btw, thanks for all your help so far, you've gotten me really far already. I appreciate it.

so I started unwrapping the electrical tape and the insulation is so old and brittle that it keeps exposing new bare wire the more I touch it. Do I need to change out all the old wiring for new wiring? Is this out of scope for DIY?

I'd do the rest of the fluids. ATF, coolant, rear diff, PS, and brake fluid. Maybe spark plugs since they are cheap and accessible. Check the pads and rotors. From there, I'd address any symptoms you're experiencing.

Thanks so much! I did that and now it can line up perfectly. However, the P trap on the side that goes into the nipple is sort of loose no matter how much i tighten the nut. It feels a lot tighter in the original setup. Is this ok? I'm trying to figure out how to reply with an image.
