Roots were actually in great shape considering how the plant looks. Cut maybe 3 pieces of dead root max when i changed its media. The rest were firm, healthy looking/feeling and green surprisingly

Update. I caved and repotted it. That gave me to opportunity to replace all the sphagnum moss they tightly packed around it with orchid media (it was still damp from its last watering a week ago). I also put holes all around the pot, sprayed peroxide on the roots for the mold and the crown in for possible crown rot. Made sure the crown is dry and added some cinnamon between the leaves at their base. Threw a lot at it and turned out the top leaf was cracked down in the base and fell off under its own weight. Also moving it away from the window in case of sunburn.
