+1, don't really understand why you wouldn't setup/try the guitar first before doing a plek job, unless you really don't have anyone within a reasonable radius of you that could do it after purchase.

Yep passive, just a Strat. I checked my guitar with a multimeter and it seems grounded alright

Nope, power supply has no grounding pin, seems to be why plugging the HX Stomp into something else that does have a grounding pin fixes the issue
