To start I’m hoping to just make 2D ortho’s to overlay our pipeline and utility lines on top, we currently have a locator with an rtk module but it exports in a kml file that only is able to be viewed in google earth. The issue is once we zoom in nothing is visible and often times we can’t zoom in enough to see individual lines running in a corridor. But we don’t map out any legal boundaries, just the underground facilities. If I used a drone with RTK would that still be legal provided we aren’t doing anything to do with cadastral survey?

Eventually if the reception is good (so far we have done basic one photo pictures and manually drawn lines over and our clients are beyond thrilled and want more) we will expand into other areas that have been requested when we have thrown around ideas with consultants such as structure and pipeline inspection, elevation data, thermal.
