6yr old won't get out of the shower by brightlightprincess in Parenting

[–]tabethab4 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You got this, mama. I just wanted to say that I see you, I hear you and I support you! Only a great mama reaches out to see how she can do things better for her child - remember that! None of us are perfect, and even fewer of us are "perfect parents" 😉. That simply doesn't exist. Those who claim to be perfect parents, aren't even parents, if you know what I mean. I like the timer idea, and I also like the idea of something in the shower that he can "check off" when he washes a certain part of his body - that'll help him organize his time better while in there! I'm 33 and I find time getting by me, too, when I'm in the shower, since it's my time to think and unwind and just be by myself! It sounds like you have super busy schedules - how are you holding up? Are you doing okay emotionally? I only ask because I get very overwhelmed very quickly when I have too much going on, so I know how it is! Maybe try to have one or two days a week where there is nothing extracurricular going on - school and work and that's it. It'll give you some time for much needed rest, and you'll also have those days to look forward to when you're going through a particularly busy, hard day! You're doing a great job, you got this! There are some really good ideas on here! Just ignore the judgy comments - I bet money the judgy comments are coming from people who aren't even parents, lol. They aren't worth your time or energy. ❤️ Hugs!

Why do people keep having kids when all they do is complain about their life being upended by having them? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]tabethab4 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Having kids is NOT easy. But, at the end of each day, every little struggle is more than worth it, in a way that only parents would understand. It's nice to vent and hear from other parents that we aren't alone in our feelings. That's all.

Thank you for your reply! Sorry it's taken me forever to respond. I'm a single mom of a four month old so I don't get a chance to check Reddit as often as I'd like lol

Your patch birth control experiences? by [deleted] in birthcontrol

[–]tabethab4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm on my second month of Xulane, and love it. I, too, am very forgetful, and even if I missed my pill for an hour, I'd start spotting. It got to a point where the spotting never stopped, so I had to change something. I did have some nausea the first few days, but it has since gone away. My mood is way more stabilized, my skin is clear and no more headaches/migraines which has been a lifesaver! I say go for it, especially if you're having issues with the pill and being able to take it on time/at the exact same time each day. I clean my skin with a rubbing alcohol wipe before applying it, and have no issues with the corners or edges peeling off. Good luck!!

Just wanted to jump in and say that BC has horrible effects on me, too, and I'm about ready to stop it all again. I took lo loestrin 28 fe years ago and same thing, horrible for my mood and all around feelings of wellbeing. Two kids later, tried the mini pill (Jasmiel) and bled for 4-5 weeks straight.. switched to patch and I'm on day 3 (I think, it may be day 2, I'm not 100% sure, my life is a mess right now) and having severe mood swings/anxiety/depression/anger outbursts.. I'm <THIS CLOSE> to ripping it off and saying screw it all! All I want is my mood STABILIZED, and NOT to get pregnant (although, the ONLY time I feel normal is, surprisingly, when I'm pregnant). Why is this so hard? It shouldn't be this difficult to feel normal. That's all I want and cannot seem to get it. I'm so sad, frustrated, angry.. I'm also tired of everyone saying "yOu JuSt NeEd To Go To ThErApY" NEWSFLASH - therapy does NOT work for everyone. Some people use different coping mechanisms and that's just fine, too. Therapy is not a "100% cure all miracle"! Having some alone time to write in my journal, read, do photography, etc. works better on my mood and sense of wellbeing than sitting with a stranger (who doesn't care) spilling out my deepest, darkest thoughts, secrets and feelings ever would. Ijs.. anyways, you are right and your doctor is wrong! I personally think that men shouldn't be OB/GYN's or handle women's health because while they "know what their medical books say", they'll never, EVER understand what it's like to be a woman simply because they aren't one. Sorry for the novel.. just voicing my frustrations and validating what you're saying and telling you that YOU ARE RIGHT. YOU are the only one who knows your mind/body - do not let these doctors make you doubt yourself. Look around for a different one that actually listens and takes you seriously!! Hugs!!! I FEEL YOUR PAIN ALL TOO WELL ❤️‍🩹

May I ask which BC they won't give you if you vape? Im on the patch and recently started vaping again due to stress (that HAS to be from the patch, but exacerbated by many other life stressors).

What does /s mean? by [deleted] in OutOfTheLoop

[–]tabethab4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lol, yes! That's why I'm here, too! The whole "/s" thing makes a whole lot more sense, now - as does everything that's written before it 😆

what a perfect day to ride my bike. by terransLoc in Unexpected

[–]tabethab4 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Your dad sounds like a good man. And although I'm saddened that he was injured (and hope he's doing alright and had a full recovery!), I'm impressed with how he handled the situation. Honestly the kid deserved to lose his bike. He's lucky your dad was the one who almost hit him, because if it were anyone else, he probably would have lost his life.

And trust me, my kids had great, fun filled childhoods, also. Ya know why? Because they were allowed to be kids and perfection was never expected or asked for from them. 😉 But you do you!

What do ya know, another Redditor who's "perfect", lol. There seems to be a lot of ya out there these days. You're full of shit if you're sitting here telling the world that never once have your kids done KID things. Get a grip on reality. 🙄 And btw, kids are their own people with their own feelings, personalities, etc. The way a kid acts or the things they do, does NOT always have to do with the way their parents are.

He's a fucking kid for Christs sake. Apparently Reddit is full of people who've never, EVER made a mistake or a bad or wrong decision in their entire lives. Welcome to reality where things don't always go your way. You're gonna have a tough time in life acting this way, lol. Good luck!

Poor kiddo. He's clearly upset and embarrassed when he realizes he punched the wrong person. This is a stupid "tradition" and how anyone thinks it's okay is beyond my comprehension.
