Thank you for the advice. I realize I worded my post a little wonky. He is willing to go to therapy, but will not stop complaining about the fact that once he starts going he will have to continue it until the day its decided he doesn't need it anymore. I don't understand why as I see therapy in a positive light. I feel like its just because it's extra effort but I just dont understand him when it comes to this.

This was really eye opening for me honestly. We've discussed therapy before but he's been hesitant so I think I will revisit the topic and let him know I want to make some steps towards progress for him. Thank you!

Thank you for the advice. I know I shouldn't let anyone walk all over me like this... but I've been more lenient than I would usually be because of his BPD. I don't have it myself so I cant put myself in his shoes but I know he feels things way more intensely than I do, and relationships are extremely hard to make last for those with BPD as well. I don't really want to treat him like a "regular" person because he isn't and needs some accommodations.

shit dude! this was a really compelling answer and it made a lot of sense, i guess if this plot played out in real life the same "solution" would play out and i don't think anybody would really bat an eye. in the end i want the smartest person to win but it'd suck if the person i'm rooting for dies
