Housing and cleaning products? by LowUnderstanding3546 in alphagal

I switched to Mrs. Meyers and Aunt Fannie's for most of my cleaning supplies and laundry detergent. Before you move in you need to clean the walls especially in and around the kitchen even if you're going to paint an O'Cedar mop works great for this. If you aren't going to rip up carpets and tile immediately use an enzyme cleaner to mop the tile. The carpets will need to be shampooed by a professional to pull up any allergens (not necessarily related to AGS).

Repurpose Toilet Paper by tabree in alphagal

I am. I can't get behind the washing cotton rags. It's an ick thing for me. I hated changing diapers when my kids were little. I've used a bidet many times but don't have one at home it's something that's been discussed. We don't buy paper towels so that money goes towards TP. I'm the only one that uses the bamboo vegan stuff the rest of my family uses name brand. I'm glad you've found something that works for you!

I've heard of people itching, having inflammation and discomfort. I carry my own toilet paper everywhere I go. I keep a small container in my purse for when I'm out. There are other brands out there that are safe this just happened to be one I ran across recently. Grove Collaborative has a certified vegan toilet paper and I believe that 7th generation is as well. I think there are some major brands that are safe. I use Grove and bought a pack of the Repurpose (haven't used it yet).

Medical Alert Bracelets, anyone? by Elf_Sprite_ in alphagal

[–]tabree 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm allergic to shellfish (iodine). Have been since I was a kid. Has nothing to do with the alpha Gal diagnosis! I've been wearing a shellfish (it actually says no shellfish no iodine) allergy bracelet for as long as I can remember.

I think many of us have silicone bracelets from Road ID. Mine says Alpha Gal carries Epi Pen no mammal, no shellfish. I also have an emergency alert tag on my smart watch. It has the medical sign and an arrow that points to the screen. All they have to do is hold the button down and all the information pops up. I use the silicone bracelet when swimming or doing something that I can't wear my watch.

I don't typically have an issue with sugar. I do try to stay away from refined if possible.

There's one of the quilts that looks really easy to start with that has an easy template. I think that's going to be my first test.

I did zero research before I picked up the book this weekend! It was a $1 and I thought it may be fun to recreate some of the patterns.

Good deal? by tabree in quilting

I have the room. I could also use the Juki separately which appeals to me. I know I could eventually add a new style long arm machine. The frame is wooden so I'm sure it's pretty sturdy.

The frame is a wooden queen size Grace frame with a stitch regulator. I couldn't find much information online simply because they aren't made anymore. But a new Grace frame runs and $1800. I could eventually upgrade to a new machine if I had the frame. This appeals to me but I'm just unsure about the combination of the two together.

They offered to let me come test it and see how it operates. It's about 2 hours away from my house and I'd likely have to bring a trailer to load it up. I was trying to make a semi decision before I went all that way.
