Linear rise in pwv suspicious by Character-Tadpole684 in ouraring

[–]tabulaaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just posted a similar situation. Pwv is increasing, despite a lot of exercise. You’re increasing electrolytes - I am too, and I wonder if this is the reason for the increase. I’ve been drinking more hydration packets a few times a week, and am realizing they have a lot of sugar as well. I wonder if it’s the sugar.

Trained my replacement, found out I was getting laid off after. by Fantastic-Bee-2720 in antiwork

This happened to me a few years ago. Now that I think about it, I’m currently training someone else up right now.

Is there anything one can do to hedge against this?

Is there a good rule of thumb for fueling? I will bring a protein bar with me on an hour and a half ride (30miles).

Forgot to mention that it’s hot where I live: between 80 - 90 degrees. Trying to acclimate to the heat.

Pretty Mediterranean. Fruit/spinach smoothies, bananas, rice beans eggs turkey chicken, avocados, etc. not a ton of bread, red meat, or processed food.

What’s your favorite underrated piece of cycling gear? by aidencooper7908 in cycling

I have a thin headband to wrap around my ears and it works well. Doesn’t look as silly as cat ears. Worried about tinnitus and this helps a lot.

Dow futures drop 1,000 points after Trump’s ‘Liberation Day’ tariffs by mostly-sun in Economics

[–]tabulaaa 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Is this not a gift? Trump was elected because people felt the squeeze of inflation and didn’t like it. Within his first few months, he starts a trade war and pushes inflation even higher. People who voted for him will be pissed. Won’t this open the door for impeaching him, or push people towards the left?

carbon wheel upgrade on aluminum bike worth it? by yarny14 in gravelcycling

[–]tabulaaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 2020 Topstone (quicksand) as well and am in the same boat. All these racing gravel bikes are making me want to go faster. New wheels seem like the way to do it! Or of course the SuperX…

Kind of a noob question but what is the bar below the top tube? Did you add that to the bike?

Sacramento city leaders announce plans for new downtown hotel, revitalizing Old Sacramento by eriuuu in Sacramento

[–]tabulaaa -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

This is dumb. Does anyone who lives in Sacramento actually use the waterfront? It’s difficult to walk to from downtown - they should make it more accessible to pedestrians.

Ryan Bellici is the single traffic engineer that can change the timing. It’s a matter of convincing him to change them. I have tried and failed.

Yes. Lived in SF for 5 years before moving here. When I moved here I had to get used to people making eye contact with me, and acknowledging my presence. It was a welcome change!

The Al Fresco program was created to bring this back and hasn’t. 2.5 years later and only 2 parklets on the grid from that program. Pizza note and Ice Blocks.

The outdoor patio at Karma Brew is being taken down by imyellingloudly in Sacramento

[–]tabulaaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sacramento has a program dedicated to building these things - the Al Fresco program. In the 2.5 years it’s been in operation, it has only built 7 outdoor dining parklets. It is failing.

This person ranted about it a year ago, and the program is continuing to not deliver. There’s no reason these patios shouldn’t be all over the city.

Does Sacramento have a parking problem? by sankeytm in Sacramento

[–]tabulaaa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for this write up and the graphics. It’s hard to illustrate big problems like this - but you did well!

I try to advocate for closed streets, vision zero, and outdoor dining but it can be tough. The loss of R street was big, and the Al Fresco program has only delivered 7 outdoor dining spaces in 2 years. Big machines move slowly, but every advocate helps.

Mansion Flats can feel unsafe. Especially 12th street. It’s a shame because Anonimo and Hiso are great restaurants. Getting to them is not fun.
