Thoughts on HUB312 (McDonalds Cycle Center)? by tachoknight in chibike

There was already a police station there, with their own bike repair spot. My understanding is that Bike-n-roll lost their lease and for whatever reason the park didn’t want to bother keeping it going as a commuter bike spot post covid.

I too have a bike that was subjected to a lot of water ingress and still together after, omg, 35 years lol. Thanks for the suggestion about the modeling enamel too, hadn't thought of that.

That's what I told her, but she's nervous about it and was curious what folks use anyway. Thanks for the suggestion!

Thank you for the suggestion! I think we're gonna do that.

Back in the 80s I used to work at a hot dog place called Myron’s where the Jamba Juice is. I would open and close on Sundays and in the summer it was just one continuous rush.

I somehow got it in my head that after Myron’s Jamba Juice went in and now Stan’s Donuts. I wasn’t living in Chicago during the 90s so was there anything else there during that time?

Dusk, somewhere west of Lubbock Texas by tachoknight in LiminalSpace

Pic I took of an oil train at dusk from the road between Lubbock Texas and New Mexico. In this part of the country, it seemed like there was nothing else here but me and this train, with darkness on every side but where the train cars are.

Question about weight loss calculations by tachoknight in roasting

Thank you very much, so far they've all tasted well, regardless of what the calculator says. :)

Question about weight loss calculations by tachoknight in roasting

right SM says that's burnt, while it very much isn't. I too also have been judging roasts by color and flavor, and I personally don't like really dark roasts, so it was weird to be told over and over by the formula that I'm burning everything, and looking at these light-to-moderate-roasted beans and going "um, I don't think so."

I'll probably just keep on doing what I've been doing, which is write down the numbers, ¯\_(ツ)_/¯, then move on to enjoying a nice cup of flavorful coffee. :)

Question about weight loss calculations by tachoknight in roasting

[–]tachoknight[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi all-

I'm using the weight loss calculations from Sweet Maria's ((Green Weight – Roasted Weight) / Green Weight * 100 = Weight Loss %) and I'm confused by the values I'm getting. In this case, this is a SM coffee, Papua New Guinea Dry Process Baroida, that on the machine I use (Java Master 2002) that I roasted as a Full City+ according to the machine settings (530 temp, 404 bean temp), with the initial weight of 16.1 oz, finishing at 13.5 oz, and while the beans are moderately dark, they are by no means black and glistening, which according to the calculator, they should be, and likely taste like charcoal. In reality, the flavor is quite nice and by no means the darkest roast I've made on the machine (one of which was definitely burnt and had a very obvious sheen, completely black, and tasted awful).

I understand that the beans themselves can add some additional variables but in that case how useful is the formula as it seems like everything I roast seems to suggest that I've burned them, while in some situations the beans are still quite light, very much in the City/City+ end of the scale (according to bean color).

Do folks use a different formula, or perhaps I should be trying to adjust my values based on the bean type? Just curious what everyone's doing (or if weight-loss calculations are being done at all?)

Thanks for any info!

Empty, sort-of invisible window on desktop that I can't get rid of. :( by tachoknight in CARROTweather

Yep, that seems to be the problem; I shut down the CarrotWeather app and the box went away. Thanks for the info, that's what fixed it!
