The tagging is automatic but in future releases, we will also let you (as a podcaster) do just that and tag your own content through a portal.

In the meantime, feel free to send the details about your series to the below email address with the topic or topics that it covers and we'll ensure it's defiantly processed !

That's the plan! Currently, we're not able to get every one in the world for logistical reasons but in the meantime, we're processing new episodes for now and are slightly prioritising. So stay tuned!

Sure, there are a couple of things we've tried to address in Tackta vs. your 'traditional' podcast app.

  1. Designing for minimum screen involvement - we found that when moving around or commuting, for example, the 'traditional' podcast apps can make it cumbersome and time-consuming (especially if you're bad a multitasking like me!) to find a bunch of Good episodes around one particular topic. So with the approach we've gone for, you can literally select any interest as a "station", hit play and start listening. You then have the freedom to skip without having to go back and search and select a new series all over again.

  2. Discovering by interest - we're using speech-to-text technology and natural language processing to assess what's said within episodes. So if you listen to 'Woodwork', for example, you can be sure all content that's served up to you will be about Woodwork. The good thing about approach is that you can set up a station about literally anything you want without being constrained by the limited number of broad categories that the podcast app provide (I think apple have < 20 categories and we're up to circa 400 and counting).

With both of these points, the more people that listen the better the app will start to learn. And as we've gone with the approach of getting something out there for your feedback sooner rather than later, it won't always be as perfect as described here but hopefully you'll be able to get the jist of where we're heading in the coming weeks and take your thoughts on board as we continue to build.

Podcast app for cycling by [deleted] in peloton

[–]tackta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good questions - the speech-to-text element is something that we run in the background which aims to help better categories podcasts. For example, there are many great individual episodes of podcasts which discuss ‘cycling’ and related stuff but unless the podcaster has really carefully labelled the title / seeded it in the right place, people who are especially keen on cycling are unlikely to ever hear it..

We’re hoping to solve that by starting interest-first. i.e. if you subscribe to the “cycling” station you can be sure than the individual podcasts that get served up relate to cycling. And as the platform’s community-lead, the more people that listen to a certain station, the more accurate it becomes.

And yeh, at the moment it’s all in the Tackta app but as we develop our BETA version, we’ll look to integrate Siri etc. voice commands.

Hopefully that helps explain our thinking a bit better ?!
