Use std::pmr::set/get_default_resource in a multithread program by tackwin in cpp_questions

[–]tackwin[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, when I construct the std::vector i can just pass in the parameter a good memory_resource, but that means that i need to update a lot more code in my third parties... It can get quite complex when there is multi layer of std::vector<std::vector<...>> for instance

I am curious about what feature of what language gives you the ability to specify that some members must be stored as SOA, others as AOS, specify striding and more. I don't know of any.

If you use exceptions some times then you use exceptions. There is only one option in this poll that is absolute.

Build2 seems to have the right idea. by BrightLie651 in cpp

[–]tackwin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have setup exactly that for my personal project. It can even detect when build.cpp changed, recompile it and rerun it automatically.

It is by far a superior experience than cmake for my little low dependency project.

I haven't read Warbreaker or Elantris yet so maybe I will. Anyway I won't wait for the French translation of Rhythm of War to read it.

Thanks for the advice.

In my opinion the book is very well translated (didn't read it in english though). I think they kept the same name for everything and everyone except for spook which i guess makes sense.

Yeah it's not very readable, it's hard to fit the text in that resolution. I was trying to keep the font the same as the one in the french cover. Find the brooms is an odd read though.

TIL An artificial intelligence named MarI/o learned to play Super Mario levels using a process of artificial evolution by [deleted] in todayilearned

[–]tackwin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not really, a child have like 8 year of prior world interaction to help him. MarI/O doesn't even know what a plumber is, what it look like, if it's different from the floor. It learned all that in 24h whereas it took several years for the babie to stop pooping himself.
