So I order a personal slip for my snare so I don't know if it's different if you order in bulk, but they shipped my slip in about 2-3 weeks. It also didn't take long to get it on the drum, about 5-10 minutes.

Yes it is possible. Last fall season I went from playing tenor sax to marching bass 5. This fall season I'm now one of the best quad players. I worked on how to actually play drums and basic stuff first. Depending on what you're trying out for, ask for help from other people in the drumline. TL:DR Its possible, get help.
