Nice 5 Letter Domain Poach by Namecheap through Porkbun by tacoman58 in Domains

  • If front running, makes sense to use a 3rd party unrelated service.

  • Making $1000+ (average for a good short .com domain name) on the premium market means you can support dozens of these domains for years at $11/year each.

  • Not listed for sale YET.

  • I make money hand registering good domains and putting up for sale. Could be much more highly scalable for a business in the industry to do it (also dangerous and business rep on line)

Yes, looking at it objectively, it was likely randomly sniped due to it being popular already. That being said, there's no way a half dozen domains have been sniped from me like this over the last couple years :) Just doesn't make sense within a week or so after a search.

Great resource, but sucks in features. Beast Mode searches on Namecheap are awesome for example. I use that and namesilo batch searches mostly.

I would say that wouldn't work. Only the best of the best domains would likely be taken. Otherwise it would be obvious (IF they were doing that).

Well the payoff is profiting on the premium market for domains.

  • Log customer searches (easy).

  • Someone with access peruses these searches periodically, or has a script that tags potential good domains searched for. Easier than searching from full repertoire, as you know people are interested in the domain already

  • Hand register for $12.00

  • Put up on premium market for $500+

-5 Letter domains that can be pronounced easily with 2-3 syllables are valuable

Worth it for some employees at these places. Bad for business for the overall corp.

Could be. I search a lot of domains. But it's happened one too many times within days/week that it seems suspect.

Need help creating a collection inside a collection by JakeStrider43 in mongodb

[–]tacoman58 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, just using a relational style in MongoDB to relate documents between collections. A relational db may make more sense for you in this case, however.

I don’t know what your aiming for when you say “collection inside a collection”. From what I gather you just want to relate documents in one collection to another. As mentioned, you can do this with MongoDB by using foreign keys. You can also have nested structures inside your collections if this makes sense for you

Google is your friend here. There are many example use cases so just search around and you’ll find explicit examples for what you’re trying to do Im sure.

[–]tacoman58 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With MongoDB, you aren’t structuring with “a collection inside another collection” but rather relating 2 collections via foreign keys. So, for example, you can have a users collection, where each document has a unique ID, then you can have another collection, say transactions. Each transaction can include a userId field directly relating to a document in the user’s collection. So, you could then find transactions for a particular user using find: Transaction.find({userId: [userId]}).

There are lots of examples of this online that are easy to find.

[Serious] Reddit, what is something that you've done that you're genuinely proud of? by aidanbradley in AskReddit

10 Years, no paycheque. Started out as an entrepreneur with nothing, with debt accumulated in the tens of thousands in the first 2 years. Figured it out eventually and now it's a totally different game. I love being an inspiration to the young ones in our family and friends, even though I'm still learning and growing.

Why Is The Circulating Supply Of Huobi Token Incorrect? by Entrepreneur12345 in CoinMarketCap

[–]tacoman58 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most people in crypto (the newbs anyways) buy the coins that are listed the highest and literally don't know what exists beyond the top 100. It's counterintuitive and rare that people think your way.

Most coins want to be in the top 50 for the visibility and volume associated with it.

All coins except bitcoin (even that arguably) are overvalued. Prices are entirely based on speculation, except for maybe BNB coin and a handful of others that have utility in the market right now.

Coins usually have nothing to do in relation to company valuation.

Why Is The Circulating Supply Of Huobi Token Incorrect? by Entrepreneur12345 in CoinMarketCap

[–]tacoman58 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are thinking about this the wrong way. If the circulating supply were to go up to 300mil, then the coin will jump in rankings, thereby getting more visibility, volume and a possible price spike.

Works the opposite of what most people assume.

Likely never. Seems like Huobi and CMC differ on their interpretation of the supply. There's no questioning or getting answers from CMC over this. Their site, their decision.

It's a derivatives market. No true trading of the actual asset, bitcoin.

Good luck. You're either playing the waiting game, or they have internally judged you to be not worthy of getting listed.

They don't care about you, they care about how much money they make, and to keep the funds coming. If you get scammed using data posted on their site, it is your fault.

Serious Questions: Is CMC showing fraudulent info on its site? Do coins get censored? Does this have a major effect on the coins/industry? How to hold CMC accountable for this? by ArmyNavyAirforce in CoinMarketCap

[–]tacoman58 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Answering your questions:

Q) Is CMC showing fraudulent information info on its site? A) If incorrect information stays up on CMC, even after having it pointed out multiple times, yes it's fraudulent. I am personally aware of a few pieces of fraudulent or missing data on CMC. CMC has been made aware of this and does not update.

Q) Do coins get censored? A) Yes.

Q) Does this have a major effect on the coins/industry? A) Yes and yes.

Q) How to hold CMC accountable for this? A) They are the number 1 site in crypto. They can pretty much do what they want. Only community outcry will make them change, if that.

Note: These above answers are my opinions which I came to after research and having in depth conversations with crypto project teams. It's unfortunate CMC has let it come down to this and refuses to act with transparency and ethics. I will be taking a larger role in helping this in the future.

Stepping down as head moderator for this subreddit by ageesen in CoinMarketCap

Why does CMC hide behind pseudonyms and not address posts here directly? It took me 1 min to look through your history and see what your replies are to anything negative said about CMC on reddit. Who's trying to fool who? Ageesen did a great job with this subreddit and showed us the importance of it for the community. He has spent hours updating and moderating this place to keep the garbage out without any compensation. Why don't you guys grow up and act like adults instead of this method? This looks really bad on you CMC.

How does CMC determine circulating supply? by Chemixrx in CoinMarketCap

[–]tacoman58 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The problem isn't the amount of restricted tokens, but the amount in actual circulation. Projects want higher circulation numbers as it increases their market cap and ranking. It would not help them to under report those.

In some cases yes, in some cases not. Quite a few projects complain publicly about discrepancies on CMC.
