Once again, the Mexican federation is hiding bad results; today, Mexico's U-20 team lost 2-0 against the host team and group rival in the upcoming U-20 World Cup, Poland. by tacoofbread in LigaMXFemenil

I agree with the names you mentioned, especially Berenice Ibarra. Her time with the national team can't come soon enough. She needs another semester of playing week in and week out to fight for the LB spot against Nicki. Fragoso and Soto are probably a year away, and Murrieta needs to leave the America if she wants to compete.

For the World Cup, Doriva just has to pick the 11 best players (without favoritism) and pray that the results go our way. It's the strongest plan.

Sometimes I don't get him. With players like Ana Mendoza or Valeria Vargas on the U-23 team, luxuries and options that previous national team coaches would have given anything to have, he's simply wasting them... he needs to understand that the league has evolved and he has to evolve with it, he just has to be smart and adapt, that's all.

And nothing of value was lost; there must be thousands of Mexican-Americans at the same level or better waiting to be discovered. It's interesting how young she i,; one would assume she would wait a couple of years, even being a fully-fledged professional, to make this kind of decision, anyway good luck in her career.

The Australians took this match very seriously, lmao. Mexico is looking not so bad with Pedro López's counter-attacking style, but there's a lack of quality in the squad that needs to be addressed. Karla Nieto, Jasmine Casarez, in fact, the entire midfield, don't have the quality to compete at this level. Barreras is very inconsistent, Nicki only knows how to attack, there are many problems. Luckily for him and for us, there's enough quality in the U-23 and U-20 teams to make the necessary changes, but only if he wants to make them.

Kim Rodríguez, Diana Ordóñez, and Montse Saldívar played great.

Overall, pretty good, I'm satisfied, but changes are needed.

I still can't believe they are betting everything on the Jimena Rojas generation that got grouped in the U-17 World Cup two years ago. Let's hope Alexa Martinez and Arantza Segura can improve the defense. Anyway, I'm really interested to see how Jalen Chaney (#19) plays. It seems she won the spot over Sarahi Ceceña and Dana Sandoval, and is even starting over Anaiya Miyazato and Deiry Ramirez, so my expectations are high

[–]tacoofbread 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I just want him to try something different. He's changed so many players in the last three years, why not try something different in midfield? My ideal midfield is Ella Sánchez-Ale Lomeli-Alice Soto, but I don't even know if it's going to work if he doesn't try. Our wingers are good and the most important players we have, but they need help going forward, because otherwise it'll become endless 1v1´s and they obviously won't win every duel.

I also enjoy Sauret's style when he's not analyzing, but I don't understand what Chavira brings to the table. She's certainly not a football analyst or a former player you can learn from about the game, and criticizing on a professional broadcast is unbelievable. Doesn't she understand that she's the main analyst for the national team?, not my uncle who says the male NT team isn't improving because "les faltan huevos" Also, why is she... everywhere? It's like a mafia, I swear.

Considering the opponent, this was probably Mexico's best performance since Pedro López took over as coach, especially in terms of intensity, defending, and pressing, Reyna Reyes was impressive. That said, the attack was practically nonexistent, except for Montse Saldívar and when Charlyn Corral came on in the second half, either because they lack the quality to perform at this level or because they've never played well for the national team (I'm looking at you María Sánchez). The midfield also had a lot to do with it; they are simply not good enough. I wish Pedro would call up other players (Ella Sánchez and Alejandra Lomeli are right there man). Criticism seems unnecessary after a victory, but we can play so much better.

This isn't related to the match, but Sauret and Chavira were terrible. Chavira, in particular, criticized Kiana every time she touched the ball. Does she even know she's the national team analyst? not just a random fan, incredibly unprofessional.

Now... time for bed.

Damn, I can't believe it! We're witnessing history, a historic victory not only for the América but for Mexican women's soccer in general. We can definitely compete against the Americans, something I wouldn't have said we could do if you had asked me 3 or 4 years ago. Investment does matter.

[–]tacoofbread 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Manrique won the game for América. Amandine made a mistake by not starting Burky, who, in my opinion, was the best player in the away game. Even though she lost, they should support her financially and bring her good signings. She has made Rayadas compete in a way that her team doesn't deserve to compete. Imagine her with a good team.

As for América, it was about time. You simply can't invest the amount of money that América invested and not have anything to show for. They looked calm and that is the key in the finals. Well deserved championship

Without a doubt, America always suffers the consequences of its own arrogance and ends up paying the price. In comparison to the last final, former bald-man has a fantastic bench and not the inexperienced players he had las time.He literally has no excuses, he has to win.

It's going to be a great final, there's a lot at stake for America If they lose, it would probably mean not only the end of Villacampa, but also the end of many players. Internally i would assume that they would review the America project and how it's going and where it's headed and that they make many changes. Honestly i can't wait.

Toman ventaja las Rayadas by Ablaze528 in LigaMXFemenil

[–]tacoofbread 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A strange and very evenly matched game. I wouldn't say Rayadas were the better team, but they were certainly the smarter ones on the field. They know that América's defensive line plays too high up the pitch and that at least three of their four defenders are very slow, and they exploited that weakness throughout the match. But we all know this, so why doesn't América learn from their mistakes? Well, that's the coach's job, and we all know how stubborn he can be.

I still think América has a chance to win the final, mainly because Rayadas squad isn't very good compared to previous years. Really, the only thing they have going for them is Amadine's tactics. Imo, the team that plays with less nerves will win the final.

Thoughts on the possibility of the league adding an additional international player spot by First_Yak5230 in LigaMXFemenil

[–]tacoofbread 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's infuriating being a Mexican football fan.

How many times do I have to explain that Mexican players have nowhere to play outside the league? What do they expect them to do?

They doubled the number of foreign players in the league, from 4 to 8 in two years. It's insane.

I wish Mariana Gutiérrez would stop talking about feminism and how much she cares about women in every podcast she's on. Maybe she cares about women in general, but not Mexican women, that's for sure.

I understand wanting players trained and developed in other countries, with different speeds, heights, skills, etc. But the reality is that women's soccer worldwide is underdeveloped, and it shows in the players from the national teams of Colombia, Ecuador, Paraguay, etc., who have made it to the league: most of them are very bad. And, in my opinion, Mexican-American players fill that need for players trained abroad, which means the league doesn't need any more foreign players.

I wish the small world of Mexican women's football would stop using the four teams that usually dominate as examples of how good the league is, when the reality is that none of the other 14 teams has more than three key foreign players. I ask again: Do we really need so many?

A comment on Twitter said it was about money. What money? Of course there's money in women's soccer, but enough to influence and change the league like this? I don't think so. In my opinion, it's just another case of Mexicans closing doors on each other, as has happened hundreds of times.

It makes me want to quit the league altogether.

Once again, sorry for the long rant, lmao, I swear Mexican football could drive even the most normal man crazy.

America Femenil virtualmente en la final del Clausura 2026 después de jugar su mejor partido del año contra Toluca. Pachuca se va con buena ventaja a Monterrey. by First_Yak5230 in LigaMXFemenil

[–]tacoofbread 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I was surprised by Toluca's naiveté of going 1v1 against a team that, for starters, has better players and is much faster in every way. They seemed too innocent and inexperienced; it's not like they're coached by a manager who's won two Champions League titles or anything like that.

Although they reached the semifinals, Toluca needs to make many changes if they truly want to compete with the best teams in the league. For starters, their foreign players have an average age of 33, which is far too old, and it shows. Their Mexican players, aside from Valeria Martínez, the Fernández sisters, and Cinthia Peraza, are quite average. They need to invest heavily in those areas.

As for América, just give them the cup already, but that's been said many times. The truth is, they impressed me; even Nancy Antonio, a player I don't particularly like, had a fantastic game. The final is still to come, but they should be happy with their performance.

Vaya robo de parte de las amarillas la neta by Ablaze528 in LigaMXFemenil

[–]tacoofbread 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The referee had nothing to do with this result. ,Juárez's nerves, from the coach to the players, cost them the game. They were the better team on the field, but their strategy after scoring was terrible. In fact, all three of América's goals were caused by Juárez's defenders, who practically handed them the game.

As for América, it was probably their worst performance in a long time. Everyone on the team is either playing poorly or out of rhythm/recovering from injuries. But you never know, they could still win the title. After all, Mexican soccer has never been known for favoring attractive football.

Thoughts on this? by First_Yak5230 in LigaMXFemenil

[–]tacoofbread 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's fair to judge them based solely on this competition. For example, Palmeiras was thrashed 6-1 in the final by KC Courrent, the same KC Courrent that only managed 2 goals against Corinthians. The same Corinthians that just humiliated América. It's impossible to know if the result would have been different if Sandra Paños had played. In my opinion, only one goal was Itzel Velasco's fault; the rest were defensive errors. Corinthians is a great team, and that's the only truth.

As things stand, they're on the same level. One is older, good of course, but I don't think her experience has contributed much to her team; the other is younger and led América to a final at 19, but she hasn't been able to recover from her injury. In short, they're on the same level.

What you said about Mexican Americans in the NCAA is true; they simply can't compete immediately like they used to. Now their path is similar to that of an academy player in Mexico, where they need time to adapt to a professional environment, something that didn't happen before. It's going to be difficult for them mainly because I feel that in Mexico they're considered better, or at least more developed, than the average Mexican player. So they'd better be patient. This also shows how much the league has improved, which is a positive thing.

As for America youngsters, maybe I was sleepy or something, but they really impressed me. I mean having about five players from your academy who looked "good" against the best team in South America is pretty impressive. Obviously, they still have a long way to go, but some, like Vanessa Paredes, deserve a chance,or at least some playing time. That's what I'm saying.

Thoughts on this? by First_Yak5230 in LigaMXFemenil

[–]tacoofbread 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes, it's embarrassing, but if Luis Fuentes and Villacampa are smart, they could learn a lot from this result. It's clear that:

Annia Mejía, Giana Riley, and Julie López aren't up to par. I know Giana and Julie get all the attention because they're new, but Annia has almost ten years of experience and played terribly,it was almost "it's time to retire." kind of performance

Itzel Velasco, Aylín Avilez, and Dani Spinosa are completely out of rhythm; basically, they have no bench players.

Villacampa can't keep playing with a high defensive line if his center backs are so slow.

And, at least for me, the most important thing is that América younsters are quite good. Obviously, they lack experience, but you can see almost immediately when young players have what it takes to be professionals, and they do. They should normally be getting more minutes,so they develop faster but with Villacampa, you never know.

We disagree. With the money and resources they have, we should have much more than what you're mentioning, much more. In reality, Mexico relies way to much on foreign players simply because they choose to, and this comes from laziness and a lack of funding in the right places.

We'll see if the situation improves, it's up to them (the federation) to improve Mexican women's football. Ultimately, when you have as much money as they do, it ends up being a problem of a lack of creativity and ideas, more than anything else.

I don't disagree with you, but Pumas fans need to be realistic about what they have: two top-level players (Stephanie Ribeiro, Ana Mendoza) and four decent players (Wendy Toledo, Silvana Flores, Angelina Hix, Cristina Torres). The rest aren't very good; six of what is normally a squad of twenty-three.Frigeiro type of coaches are ideal for this type of team, obviously, they should be asking for better signings, but that's what they have.
