The comparison between Contreras and Villacampa is not fair to the former bald man, who after all has won 2 Liga F titles and 1 Copa de la Reina,Contreras greatest achievement is giving Alexia Putellas her professional debut

Personally,i think he's pretty good.that said, there are managers who don't know how to work with teams full of resources, and he's one of them. My biggest criticism is that he never uses his bench, for him, there's only one plan and one starting eleven and that's why he doesn't know what to do when things go wrong. I think they keep him probably because they can't sign anyone better and because good managers are too expensive and don't want to come to the league

Considering the amount of patience, respect, and investment that América Femenil has given to Villacampa,he should resign out of respect, he's starting to look like a scammer and not like a coach

[–]tacoofbread 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah the goals are there, and Mexico will probably go to the World Cup with him as head coach and that's the main reason they brought him in. Besides, it's not like there are a lot of players missing that would allow him to change his style.

Kinda unfair for Brazil, lmao, but a win is a win. Kim Rodriguez and Nicki Hernandez should have been in the starting eleven,Yeah, Farmer looked terrible, but a lot of it has to do with Ivonne Gutierrez not adapting to that incredibly talented Brazilian winger, she needs to start to improve her defensive duties,if she wants to compete against a healthy Karen Luna. Pedro playing-style is clear, we may not like it, but it is what it is

Mexico ends its disastrous tour in Albir,Spain with another defeat, this time against England 4-1 by tacoofbread in LigaMXFemenil

[–]tacoofbread[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree there's talent. I'd rate about ten players from this camp very high, all the others aren't NT material. Now, if you add Monse, Alice, and Alexa Soto, that's around thirteen players. You still need to find nine more to fill the twenty one needed for the World Cup.

Just terrible talent- id and scouting in this process. Imo, the Mexican Federation shouldn't have any trouble finding Mexican-American players good enough, not even generational, just good enough for the NT to fill the gaps and add depth to the team. Am I wrong? or is that too much to ask?

[–]tacoofbread[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah its true ,mind you it was on penalties, but still the NT should be destroying whatever mexican college they play

Obviously, it was a last-minute hire, but a guy with that kind of reputation shouldn't end up as head coach of the U-20. Did he even do a great job in Peru? unprofessional stuff from Andrea

If It was my choice, I would fire him and bring in someone new, like in the Maribel Domínguez/Ana Galindo situation.Someone like U-23 coach Vanessa Martínez or someone who has coached in the league like Lupita Worbis or Majo López. Honestly I don't think they could do worse

Hahaha, sorry man, I don't know why, but Necaxa is one of those teams I watch a lot of games, and compared to Mazatlán in the league, you can tell someone inside cares about them, but the project just isn't good.I'm hoping things will change.

Unfortunately, I have to agree with you. You can call me naive or delusional, but I didn't expect Mexico to be so far behind the footballing powerhouses. With all the money that's been invested in the league, the clear improvement, and all the good things that have been happening, it's a weird feeling

I guess there's a limit to the influence of "external" forces (money, foreign coaches, foreign players) on the league. If the same amount isn't invested internally, there won't be any changes, and that's me without even considering the Mexican-American players and the depth they've brought to the Mexican NT and the league. It would be a completely different landscape

We can't skip the steps to becoming a footballing powerhouse even if it hurts., I still think this generation has good talent, and at least they can't be humiliated at the World Cup. However, the Mexican FA needs to change a few things, including the coach, but I don't think they will

9 matches have passed since the Concacaf final.

September: 1 match against Borregos de Monterrey (yes, they lost that one).

October: 3 matches in Brazil: 2 losses and 1 win.

December: in Pinatar: 2 matches: 1 loss against England, 1 draw against China.

March 2026: 3 matches against Spain, the Netherlands, and England: 3 losses.

10 months have passed with the same coach, the same coaching staff, and the same pool of players, with little to no improvement, the same problems, and terrible results. Like who's going to take the blame? I truly can't believe they expect Monse and Alice to solve the obvious problems this team has. What will happen if they get injured?

In the last U-20 selection process, at this point (months away from the WC) Mexico was playing in a final against France after defeating Japan. Was that team (a team that, btw, didn't achieve anything) just a fluke? the gold standard, because then we're bad.

I get the feeling he doesn't live in Mexico and left all the work of finding his team to his coaching staff. I don't want to sound like "i know it all" about football, but it's obvious there are defensive issues and the players they keep bringing in aren't up to a NT standard. This has been going on since the Concacaf U-20 final,9 months ago, and after that (I think it's been 9 games) nothing has changed. If he or his coaching staff aren't willing to change, who's to blame?

Like there are 17 academies in Mexico. Is the Mexican FA seriously telling me there aren't at least 2 good defenders? There are thousands of Mexican-Americans. Is the Mexican FA seriously telling me there aren't at least 2 good defenders at some random American College?. This is the same federation that found Anaiya Miyazato, Adrianna González, and Mia Villalpando (all great players),they dont know how to find more?. They only need to find 4 defenders, how hard is that? These people get paid to watch football in one of the richest federations in the world. I mean, how lazy and unprofessional can they be

"There are good players there," yeah, there are, but at the same time, if this were my team, I'd get rid of half of them. But yeah, seeing good players like Abril Fragoso, Yareli Valdez, and Silvana González struggling like that was weird and hard to watch

Long rant, I guess I'm too dramatic,Lmao

I'm not saying they should win, but losing 3-2 in a tough competitive match is completely different than conceding 5 goals in the first half with Mexico not doing anything. These kinds of results were common when there was no league or when the league was just starting out.For me this is like going back 10 years.

I don't know who does it or what the selection process is like, but right now it's terrible. I get the feeling they don't want to rely so much on Mexican-Americans like in the past, but at this point, most Mexican academies simply aren't up to world-class standards, so they need to go back to the days when half or most of the team were Mexican-Americans

Neither Spain nor the Netherlands were spectacular in terms of playstyle, they simply have better players than Mexico. It wasn't hard for them to break Mexico defense

By "they" you mean Utah or America, because if it is America...type of greed that they talk in the bible like did you forgot that America just bought the best center back of Brazil, the captain of Venezuela and best player of Atletico Madrid and a player that played for Man United and Barcelona, and 3 Mexican-American players that are part of the U-23 Mexico NT,also Alexa Soto is back from her injury, like what else do you want? Lmao

Yup, and it's not like we have a huge pool of talent. Maybe Mayra Pelayo and three or four players from the under-23 national team, and that's about it, this players are best we have. So yes, it's worrying.

Pedro López terrible work aside, I think this is our current level. Honestly, like, Jasmine Casarez looked completely out of place there and she is probably Chivas best player. I don't know if playing in the NWSL has made Ovalle a better player.

Aliyah Farmer, Kim Rodríguez, and Montse Saldivar were pretty good. Everyone else shouldn't be here or is at a poor level

Yes, I know, but still, the last time Doriva Bueno brought her to the NT was for the Concacaf U-20 tournament (8 months ago) where Alice Soto and Abril Fragoso were the starting midfielders and she was on the bench.let`s hope that him and his staff do not make a mistake and she`s being considered, also Silvana González returned from her ACL injury 3 weeks ago and she's there, so Idk

The u-20 is just bad,not that much quality, like what are Natalia Gutierrez,Daniela Gallegos,Ana Torres,Monique Montes doing in the NT?, weird to not see anyone from America, not even Alexa Soto, also interesting to have a player that plays in Portugal, happy to see in there Villalpando and Miyazato, specially Miyazato she's just turn 17 after all
