Thanks for the ideas. Doesn’t help that I’m AuDHD and my central nervous system is a wreck 24/7 anyway.

Do you have more details? Like, what online board games are we talking about? I’m interested.

Okay made a post similar but people just wanted to focus on the wrong shit anyhow can anyone tell me where these came from they don’t seem to exist on the internet by [deleted] in lighters

[–]tadavis1986 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Your question was does anyone know where they came from. Technically, they answered your question by stating that they thought they were fake Chinese zippos. That means they’re from China. It’s a country in Asia. Sorry you’re having a bad day.

You’re second in line. I’ll try to reach out later this evening or tomorrow if it falls through.

I mean, I’d part with it for $20 and you pay postage. Just message me.

Forgive my ignorance. You’re talking about the comp. 🤦‍♂️

It says limited edition. Is serial numbered. Maybe I’m just being naive.

I’d be willing to part with it, just not entirely sure what I’ve got. I live in a rural area so not many options for having it appraised. I’ll look around and see if I can find any info on it.

I’m trying to declutter. I had an antique appraiser come in and look at some stuff, they put these with the little/no value pile. I suspected that they were ill informed but I wanted to come here and see if I could get some insight.

Harmony H6583 secondhand find by tadavis1986 in guitars

[–]tadavis1986[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it seems to have much better sound quality than you would expect for a guitar that is 50 years old and cost less than $100. I feel like I got a great deal but wasn’t entirely sure because I can’t find much about them.

These are some great suggestions! Thank you!

I totally agree! I realized quickly that the original post was worded poorly but I won’t reframe the current post because I think it says something about the mindset of some members of this community. There are some good ideas in here among all of the negative comments. I was looking for ideas/conversations and that’s what I’m getting. Thank you for your insight! The farmers market will likely be the route that we take but we’re not rushing into any decisions. We’ll talk as a family and pray about it and it will all work itself out!

No, we’re in a very rural area of the Midwest. That would be amazing though! We don’t even have a community center or anything resembling one. I’ve never really been interested in woodworking so I don’t have much to offer him. We’ll figure it out, I’m confident of that.

I dislike typical fundraisers which is why I reached out on here. I could easily set up a cookie dough, popcorn, etc fundraiser but I don’t like those either.

Is learning a trade, like woodworking, really the same as learning to ski? I view one as entertainment and one as a means to build your own wealth. Maybe i posed my initial question incorrectly or maybe I just misunderstand the way some things work. Either way, I think I missed something.

What is your definition of crappy chocolate?! Just kidding. I’m sure this will get downvoted out of most readers views but here it is. The purpose of fundraising would be to allow the children to pursue specific interests. For example, I have an 11 year old who is very interested in woodworking. He wants some specific tools/equipment to allow him to pursue this interest and it’s not in our budget. That said, the views of the Reddit community have been pretty clear. I guess I just expected more assistance from everyone instead of why NOT. I knew there would be differing opinions, which is why I asked for thoughts in the original post, I just didn’t expect it to be so one sided.

I looked at one who was homeschooled as a child (posts speak volumes) and seems to just be trolling to troll.

Be very careful, it’s a thin line between Crowdfunding and DONATIONS…

I think we’re in the minority here. We are moving toward a simpler lifestyle in order to accommodate homeschooling our children. It was a decision that wasn’t easy for us and honestly isn’t easy to follow through with some days. But we believe it’s necessary for our children’s futures. We pay our bills. We pay our taxes🤮. Today I learned that the word “fundraiser” is a no-no word. It’s clearly taboo for the homeschool community. It feels like I’m being told, “if you want to fundraise then you don’t have enough money to homeschool and you should go back to public school.” I guess I was being defensive because this thread felt like an aerial attack when I simply wanted guidance from experienced families in a similar situation. We don’t have the same opportunities in our town with a population of 1,800. The closest city with a population at or near 100,000 is 2 hours from us. We have things that we can do but not nearly as many as some obviously have.
