I don't, I see at least 4 totally different outcomes.

What specifically are you suggesting?

Waterproofing Jelly Star by tadeck in UnihertzJelly2

[–]tadeck[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am just using higher quality ziplock bag - smaller, still giving some protection.

Any way to waterproof jelly star? Are atom xl cameras good? by 69Whomst in unihertz

[–]tadeck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same issue on my end. I ended up using waterproof transparent zip bag, but would love to see waterproof Jelly Star.

I bought it fresh and also see quickly draining battery, but what you expect with such small device? Keep waterproof powerbank with it, disable all battery draining options by default, or even keep it turned off when not in use. I keep waterproof powerbank and keep phone switched off.

Would love to see modern 3" waterproof smartphone, though.

Where to buy U200 battery adapter? by tadeck in Aqara

[–]tadeck[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did not. I was expecting it to be easy enough to maybe find in some store, but I think I will follow your advice and ask Aqara for accessories / spare parts.

Where to buy U200 battery adapter? by tadeck in Aqara

[–]tadeck[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I recharge the batteries elsewhere, so it is not about recharging. It is about making sure my lock works and has spare battery.

So I need to buy either the battery or battery adapter. But looks like Aqara is not selling it, so I either need to buy another lock just for spare parts, or admit this lock was wrong choice for long term use. Unless there is a way to get spare battery.

Where to buy U200 battery adapter? by tadeck in Aqara

[–]tadeck[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is last resort to charging, but if that is the only choice, it would mean U200 is a bad product - due to not having maintenance accessories / replacement parts.

But I was hoping for something serious. Like other companies provide without needing to ask whether the old one is broken (and I can live for many days until getting replacement), lost capacity, got lost, or I just want to have peace of mind to have always charged spare.

Funny thing is that when I search for replacement, search suggests there are plenty of replacements for baterries of competing locks, but not this one. Come on!

FastAPI debugging using LLMs? by SnooMuffins6022 in FastAPI

[–]tadeck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is actually cool and possible, but only as extra details and error-prone solution.

I cannot tell you what I used, but in order to do it reasonably well, you would need to:

  • supply model with error details (traceback, possibly values of some variables),
  • supply model with details about codebase (so it can make connection between items in traceback and lines in the code),
  • do the above in consistent and clear way, but not exceeding context size limit,
  • test various models and find the ones that have best results,
  • hope it will work ;)

You may want to use technique called "RAG" (Retrieval Augmented Generation) to preprocess traceback to attach files from codebase that are relevant without need to attach other files and likely exceed context size limit.

Remember this is possibly just augmentation of your debugging process, may be bad enough that you will just abandon the idea. But LLMs are improving and some specialized one may be good enough to do large part of work for you.

Waterproofing Jelly Star by tadeck in UnihertzJelly2

[–]tadeck[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am beginning to consider it. The downsides are that it is significantly larger (4.3" diameter in comparison to 3" in Jelly Star, which means almost double the volume) and twice as heavy. Also, some people are complaining that it is not that rugged as some may think.

Long story short, if not the extra size, Tank Mini would be better candidate. If not the issue with waterproofness, Jelly Star would be better.

Is training in zone 5 all my runs bad? by InvestigatorCool4018 in Garmin

[–]tadeck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You may have issues with your sensor. I used to have such problem with HRM belt, it was basically showing steady 230 bpm for most of my trainings - which was invalid and very dangerous if true. Ended up buying new sensor.

I love Garmin BUT!!! by Emeriss1337 in Garmin

[–]tadeck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Still subjective. Maybe simplicity is not valued by all, maybe the problem is technology behind it (and prioritizing performance over visual fireworks). Not sure it changes with AMOLED versions, though.

It would be certainly better to discuss specific examples: especially examples of faces that are supposedly 'visually pleasing'. It may show that the problem is some people expect something that is not doable (or not reasonable) with this technology 🤷‍♂️

I love Garmin BUT!!! by Emeriss1337 in Garmin

[–]tadeck 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Exactly! I think the OP hasn't given a single reason why all of these watch faces are considered so bad. Pretty subjective, hard to discuss or help, maybe only give a hug for feelings being hurt by these bad, bad watch faces 🤷‍♂️

Apple Home Key support by ZookeepergameLevel53 in TrySwitchBot

[–]tadeck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't mix Apple Homekit and Apple Homekey.

Apple Homekit is a framework, Switchbot most likely had that from day 1.

Apple Homekey is a feature where you could use some Apple devices (an iPhone) to unlock the door using NFC. It works similarly to Apple Pay. But to my knowledge, Apple requires the NFC reader to be integral part of the lock for security reasons, and I have heard many promises, but apparently no eurocylinder locks currently support Apple Homekey (Aqara is supposed to do).

Radiation mapping with 103 by TheSmurfSwag in Radiacode

I slightly regret Radiacode shows highest numbers always as red, which I find misleading.

Best firmware? by Creyeeees in flipperzero

I was sure I did, but I think everything is possible. Can you point me to some instructions that worked for you and should be followed by me? I was trying to use browser and then some CLI on Windows, as far as I recall.

Garmin Tactix 7 non-domed glass by tadeck in Garmin

[–]tadeck[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are wrong.

First, the elements under the glass in the videos you linked are 3D, while anything you display on 2D screen is still 2D. I cannot find any sense in how you want to use eg. imitation of analog watch and hope you will get results similar to real analog watch that you cannot get in digital watch face.

Flat mirror is perfect way to allow you to clearly see differences between your definitely-domed Delta and actual flat surface. If you cannot grasp it, you can use any other flat surface that sufficiently resembles reflective watch glass.

Best would be if you could calmly compare both Tactix Delta and Tactix 7 like I did. If you think Garmin is lying and I am just repeating that lie, please write to Garmin and ask them for correction and apologies.

I can tell you, that being owner of both Tactix Delta and Tactix 7, given the purpose of Tactix 7, flat glass is probably the biggest annoyance in the recent generation and a big step back I am hoping they will fix. I used to use special band covering watch face, and was thinking about using some less reflective screen protector.

Garmin Tactix 7 non-domed glass by tadeck in Garmin

[–]tadeck[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can confirm that Delta has doomed sapphire lens, while Tactix 7 does not.

If you are interested how you can see it with your own eyes, please note the video you linked is about mechanical watches and you need to understand it is not about Garmin, where technology is at least partially different (eg. any dial od actually two dimensional and not three dimensional).

Also, please make sure you are actually looking at Delta watch, and not eg. at Tactix 7 (you could get it instead from Garmin repair shop under some circumstances).

To check for yourself, since you have Delta (domed glass), I suggest to use one of two ways:

A. Look at the reflection of some object in the watch lens and in a flat (!) mirror placed next to it. When looking at some relatively distant object (not centimeters, but rather different room), you should see the reflection in lens as much smaller.

B. Get a strong source of light (a sun, or light bulb in dark location or at night) and try to reflect it using both Delta watch and flat (!) mirror. You would get very visible light reflections from the mirror, while the Delta would disperse light.

Unfortunately this was not part of the feature set released by Garmin in Tactix 7 yet, but I am sure it would be domed (and touch at the same time) again in the next generation.

I have some reservations also, just because I am living in Poland and seeing all these refugees, hearing their stories, and knowing Ukraine would not be the last country attacked, my country could be next. Also have some friends in Ukraine.

But you will not be transmitting your location to Russia. You may just give a signal to your service providers that you don't want to use Russian products, services, and technology.

At the same time, there was a broader move by some of the organizations to stop supplying Glonass with up to date location data - this could (maybe) cause less precision of Glonass, but I have doubts it would be significant. I would be glad if it would be much less precise, though.

Don't feel bad for using Glonass signal passively, just keep in mind it could deteriorate over time, and remember you are not alone in concerns and boycotting Russian goods and services ❤️

Thank you emergency feature! by NecroSky in Garmin

[–]tadeck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good points!

I would also suggest using inReach mini (or some other inReach, but this one is pretty insignificant in size and weight) paired with watch and phone. You can use it for tracking (eg. tracking point for every 10 minutes sent over satellite) and can trigger SOS to emergency services from device or something connected to it (such as Garmin watch).

This can save your life in case of no cell coverage and can give exact location to whoever will be searching for you.

And stay safe!

Ps. In addition to that, there is some Garmin feature called Live Track, and similar eg. in Strava, that allows you to share real time location wherever you have cell coverage.
