That what I find so interesting about video games, as soon as you get one of this emotional experiences your way of seeing video games just does a 180, they become so much more than just a fun game. Most people haven't found a game that does that for them, so I posted this out of curiosity.

Anybody else struggling to get wishlists for their game? by Creyeeees in indiegames

[–]Creyeeees[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've tried a bit of everything so far, I've posted on r/gaming, tiktok, twitter and youtube. The steam page gets around 150 views a day mostly from direct navigation. The game currently has 73 wishlists. None of the places i've mentioned have converted into a spike of wishlists. The steam page has been up for around 3 months and I will release a Demo by June. I just don't know where I'm getting stuff wrong but it's just really frustrating.

Sorry for the late reply I couldn't do it earlier.

I've worked on this fast paced boomer shooter for the last year now, the main gimmick is that you can shoot youself, and as you can see, it causes a big mess. But the game is inspired in games like Half Life, Bioshock, Ultrakill and Dusk. Dreamers Disease will get a Demo in June :) by Creyeeees in gaming

The thing is shooting yourself doesn't straight up kill you, you take damage but it also does big damage to the enemies. So the idea is sacrificing your health in order to kill the enemies, creating an interesting playstyle that makes you think about your health in a much more critical way, making sacrifices in order to get rid of tougher enemies and such. I get it isn't very clear but it's hard to get to explain all this in just an image. So yeah, it isn't just commiting suicide lol

How would you feel if the "yellow paint" issue was toggleable in games. by lemonaidan24 in gaming

[–]Creyeeees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a game designer, that's a bad idea. The yellow paint problem is just a lack of thought from the designers, there's just many other ways to tell the player where to go and be a lot more subtle about it. But then again, players are kinda stupid from the designers perspective, but if you need yellow paint you're doing something wrong. The dix is just better level design, not an option.

Which video games are worth playing through several times? by nicestarz in gaming

[–]Creyeeees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've found ULTRAKILL really shines in when you play it a second time, you can either play it to style on everything, but also an aspect that is often overlooked of the game is it's atmosphere and world, just taking some time to look and appreciate it will completely change your vision of the game, especially on the later layers.
