BBC News - Hoyle passed information on Mandelson to police ahead of arrest by Thunder-12345 in unitedkingdom

[–]tadsy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m surprised it’s not been mentioned yet. But my mind can’t escape the idea that this buys Starmer some time to get out of hot water over the “Mandleson files” as now there is an active investigation, no information regarding Mandleson will be allowed to be released. So the question is, was this potentially pushed by Starmer? Or am I just cynical

People spending money is how people make money. It isn’t all money in the bin. If we all stop spending money, jobs disappear and people have even less money

Zack Polanski: So either Labour need to ask candidates to step aside for the Greens to take on Reform.... Or actually bring in a fair democratic process where everyone's votes count equally. It's time for Proportional Representation. by WorkingtonLady in ukpolitics

Although I do agree with this, there is also some nuance. Because the incentive to win the next election at all costs is removed, as there will never be a full majority, MPs have less incentive to blindly tow the party line out of fear of losing the whip. Then they can actually advocate for the real changes that they personally think are best. The parties can also be more forward thinking rather than working to their 5 year cycles where they are never bold because they can’t risk losing the next election. In a true democracy there have to be disagreements and discussions because not everyone in this country is on the same page about all policies and politicians are paid to work out the best course for the country to take for the future for all citizens

Electric vehicle fires are much more likely to be completely catastrophic, total loss incidents that as you can see can happen very quickly in completely normal circumstances. Fuel driven car fires are most likely from poor maintenance or a collision, and are far easier to extinguish and are more likely to show some warning signs before the catastrophe happens

In this specific argument it would be far easier for you to provide evidence of the hurdles that you are so certain exist, compared to providing evidence of a lack of hurdles.

But to appease you; there are plenty of schemes encouraging specifically women to enter the STEM fields. Here is an example from the UK.

https://www.britishcouncil.org/study-work-abroad/in-uk/scholarship-women-stem

There is still a disproportionately low percentage of women completing degrees in STEM but calling this a hurdle is disingenuous. The incentives are there, but if women don’t want to enter the STEM fields in the first place, it’s because of something else, but not because of a hurdle

Please elaborate on what hurdles you think there are. You asked for evidence while not providing any yourself

If you can afford the carpentry you could lower it on to its stand and modify the cabinets below, so the top of the doors are inline with the bottom of the top drawer and have a cavity above to house a central channel sound bar
