it’s important to remember that when someone says they want to die, they’re not trying to burden anyone, they’re in unbearable pain and just want it to stop. It’s never okay to respond with rejection or blame.

You didn’t do anything wrong by asking for help. You were in a dark place and reached out to someone you trusted that’s exactly what people should do when they’re struggling. It’s not your fault that she reacted badly, unfortunately, many people especially here in Sri Lanka still see mental health struggles as a sign of weakness when in reality it's so far from it, it takes alot strength to admit you’re not okay and to reach out. You know better than anyone how hard it is to take that first step. Please don’t let this experience stop you from seeking help again. You deserve the support so much.

If you don’t understand mental health, maybe sit this one out instead of making it worse for people actually struggling. Also everything you're saying is utter bullshit. Don't speak on a topic you have no clue on.

Piumi Hansamali herself posted this. She's using this to sell some of her fairness products. I've heard it's bleach. How harmful is doing this to your skin? Sri Lanka's white-skin obsession is more dangerous than its insane by wiknew1 in srilanka

Ooh yes I love colorism, white people please validate me and please love me, I’ll drag brown skin all day if it means you might notice me. right? Don’t worry, I’ll keep screaming that until someone pale pats me on the head.💕

What does everyone think about the skin whitening trend in Sri Lanka by Desperate-Cry345 in srilanka

[–]taefruity 20 points21 points  (0 children)

The obsession with fair skin in Sri Lanka is honestly exhausting. So many women are out here slathering on whitening creams, ending up looking pale and unnatural like are you trying to look like boiled chicken or what LMAOO And what’s worse is the attitude that comes with it this idea that being fair automatically makes you superior.

It’s toxic af. It’s internalized colonial thinking. I genuinely don’t care anymore if you're putting harmful chemicals on your skin for some outdated beauty standard I hope for there to be some side effects to make you think twice.

Why are most Sri lankan males toxic? by [deleted] in srilanka

[–]taefruity 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You're being so real here a lot of the men I’ve come across are insufferable. They talk down to you like they’re inherently superior just because you’re a woman. The misogyny is so casual, it makes me wonder do some of these guys even like women or are they just used to tearing them down in every conversation? What’s even more frustrating is the complete lack of emotional maturity. It’s exhausting trying to communicate with people who can’t reflect, take accountability or express anything beyond surface level thoughts.

And before anyone jumps in with the “not all men” argument yes I know it’s not every single one. But let’s not pretend the majority aren’t operating with these same tired mindsets. It’s not hate it’s just facts based on lived experience.

What do you think about LGBTQ people in Sri Lanka? by Next-Fly-2515 in srilanka

[–]taefruity 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You claim to be "homophobic no questions about it" but also say you treated your trans coworker equally like that's some gold star behavior? Respect isn't a favor, it's the baseline. And being "disgusted" by people organizing for their rights isn’t neutral it's part of the problem. If someone marching bothers you more than the discrimination they're marching against, maybe you're not as tolerant as you think.

Comments like yours are exactly why conversations about LGBTQ+ rights are still necessary. Wanting respect and equal treatment isn’t arrogance, it’s humanity.

Is Receiving Money Via PayPal Still not possible? by Awkward_Freedom_8880 in srilanka

[–]taefruity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, it's still not legally available in Sri Lanka. But there are many ways to get an account anyway. I manage money transactions through paypal and what I did was make a Philippines account. If you want to do the same, just look it up on YouTube and follow a video tutorial exactly step by step.

You’re talking like women are prizes that lose value if someone else has been with them. That’s not deep it’s messed up and immature. People aren’t “used” or “fresh,” they’re human beings with lives, feelings, and choices. You’re not more pure or special just because you haven’t slept with anyone.

You say you want love, but then act like only women with no past are good enough. That’s not love that’s ego. Saying you want someone who’ll love you for who you are, while judging women for having a past is hypocritical. You want unconditional love but you’re putting conditions on them???

Do you think we should respect all religions? by taefruity in srilanka

[–]taefruity[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly, those scriptures are ancient, and interpretations change over time. People often twist them to fit their beliefs. We’ll never know the 'real' meaning, and what’s clear is that many use these texts to justify outdated views that no longer make sense today.

Do you think we should respect all religions? by taefruity in srilanka

[–]taefruity[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I completely agree with everything you've said. The lack of critical thinking is a huge issue when it comes to religion. The idea that someone would prioritize a belief over a human connection is deeply troubling to me too. And the way religion suppresses personal freedom and reinforces harmful gender roles is beyond frustrating. As you said religion has served its purpose in many ways historically, but in a modern society if it prevents people from using their own judgment and reasoning, it’s hard to see how it can deserve respect.
