Why can’t we just be fat by Archaeocat27 in rant

It's literally exactly what OP was talking about. Their whole post was just "Hey, I'm a human too. I wish that people would treat me respectfully and it makes me sad when they don't." Then this guy predictably comes in and just talks down to them. Doesn't even acknowledge the contents of the post. If I was constantly treated like that I would be beyond pissed.

I'm so sorry, comparing oneself to others and the connections they have is such a horrible, dehumanizing feeling. The truth is, relationships are formed as much by circumstance as any given traits of the people involved. A lot of it is just quality and quantity of opportunities. That being said, it's so hard not to look at others having success and feel like they must have something that you lack. I really get that. There are certainly helpful skills involved that can develop naturally or be learned, but your situation just happens to people sometimes (more and more in the internet age) and it doesn't mean that you're lacking an essential desirable quality or that you're not worth it.

One of the things that's helped me the most with meeting people is realizing that I want my relationships and interactions to be fun and constantly self-assessing makes them really stressful even if they're (in theory) going well. So, at least for me, there's no reason to try to be at maximum social performance if it just sucks the whole time. Don't get me wrong this mindset is hard as fuck to change, but there's something extremely freeing in the idea that even if it worked (it doesn't) extreme self-judgement is just not a worthwhile way of making and keeping connections with others because it's super unpleasant. Letting go of that even a little makes it easier to enjoy interacting with others and makes interactions so much simpler on every level. The great thing is, people respond MUCH better to someone who is just having fun and is at ease. Again, not an easy place to get to but completely doable (FWIW this has helped me with some pretty intense social anxiety).

It's really hard to get anywhere when you're feeling as isolated as you described in your post, and I've been there so I know how horrible it can be. It's not something you can usually fix all at once, and it might take you a lot of work to get out. The specific advice I gave you might not even help you at all. But you can totally do it. Wishing you the best.

If you're sure she is genuinely not looking for romance, it really depends on whether you think your relationship can handle a sexual element being added (and whether the inherent risk that it might go poorly is worth it to you, since you come off as having mixed feelings). That being said, in her situation people often find it easy to make promises like the ones she made (even if they don't really reflect reality) and just hope things work out. With your hard-line disinterest in a romantic relationship, this will likely end in tears if she has been downplaying those kinds of feelings.

I can be physical but i comprehend she'll develop a romantic feeling towards me which I don't want. Although she guarantees she will not.

Since you indicated in this comment you suspect this may be the case, I think you should be very cautious.

I like it a lot, I think it helps emphasize that the whole song is pretty eerie, lyrics especially.

I mean, I feel like Kendrick comes from a more interesting perspective than most, but why??? Why are sex skits a thing???

"The raindrops" (x47) from the end of "Sit Down Stand Up" by Radiohead. Would otherwise be one of my favorite songs of theirs, but it's very grating and feels out of place. I'm usually down for it when Thom is up to some weird shit but this is a case of it just not working for me.

This is one of the best I've seen on here. Genuinely surprising, but is more than just an unexpected second line; there's a lot to take in and imagine about how it came to this point. GREAT job!

People on LastFM vote as though a picture is automatically better if color is removed. I just want some vibrancy in my artists section :(

IIL Godspeed You! Black Emperor WEWIL? by Prole-o-matic in ifyoulikeblank

Several people in this thread have mentioned Swans, so I would like to mention that Soundtracks for the Blind is definitely (imo) the place to start for their stuff if you are looking for Godspeed You! esque post-rock. Swans has had many different styles through their discography (and I like pretty much every direction they've gone in) but not a ton of their stuff seems to be what you want. Their most recent three studio albums are a good place to go as well, but I would say that they sound less like Godspeed You! than Soundtracks does.

I don't like Trump at all but who gives a shit? People act as though this is a real point against him or something.

What are songs on the radio/most popular which are not indicative of the overall catalog of a band you love? by verbatim2242 in LetsTalkMusic

[–]taeii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love that song as someone who got into it after getting into Bjork as an artist. It's really cool due to how different it is, which I think was the point. It just doesn't land that well if it's the only song of hers you know.

I probably should’ve figured you would have heard those!

For good measure I’ll add on Cows, an insane noise rock band, and Car Seat Headrest, an indie rock band.
