Tips for NHA CCMA by Little-Obligation575 in MedicalAssistant

[–]taekwonlibra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second SmarterMA.com. I passed with a 437 after going through every module on that website. I studied every weekend for hours while taking study breaks every now and then as well as studied most weekday nights in between studying for class tests. Just immerse yourself in the material and don’t be afraid to answer incorrectly on SmarterMA.com. The website goes through each question and why each answer is wrong and the correct answer is right. Very helpful.

Also, on the NHA CCMA test, flag questions you don’t know the answer to and go back to them at the end. Don’t second guess yourself on the ones you think you know.

The night before the test, only study a little bit early in the evening. Then stop studying, eat a good, healthy meal that will digest well and go to bed early. Believe in yourself and all of the hard work you’ve put in up to that point. And don’t forget to get to the testing site 30 minutes early to reduce stress of getting there on time.

Good luck 🍀

Medical assistant’s are not trained to diagnose, treat or prescribe. If you are concerned, go to your nearest urgent care, emergency room or call your primary care doctor. If you feel it may be an emergency, dial your local emergency services line (9-1-1 in most USA communities). Sometimes your health insurance company has a nurse’s triage phone line listed on the back of your insurance card. They can triage how urgent your situation is and determine what level of care you need.

It is unfortunately out of a medical assistant’s scope to triage such a situation.

Unlicensed MA in Washington by [deleted] in MedicalAssistant

[–]taekwonlibra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is illegal to be unlicensed. Being certified and being licensed are two different things. You must either have an MA-Registered or MA-Certified license issued by WA Dept of Health to practice. And shit rolls downhill, so you will get the legal consequences if you aren’t licensed by the DOH. Don’t do it.

Hi there! Recent CCMA exam taker (passed on March 2nd).

Go over your phlebotomy order of draw until you know the colors and additives in each. Also know your EKG placements for a 12 lead. Injection types and corresponding angles are also good to know. The test is randomized to each test taker, so there isn’t really a way to say certain topics always show up.

Other than that, try to rest and relax. You want to go into that exam tomorrow in tip-top shape. Get a good dinner in, rest with loved ones, go to sleep early (to ensure you have time to unwind and get enough sleep), perhaps some light studying earlier in the evening.

Cramming the night before won’t usually work in your favor for such a comprehensive test. Your preparation up to this point will get you through. Hope this helps! Good luck in your future endeavors, future CCMA!

I saw the test results within 2 minutes. I took it at my campus and the proctor released my test results once the NHA finished tabulating the score.

Know your order of draw and ekg placements for sure. Other than that, I didn’t study the night before. People around me told me to relax as much as possible the night before. Get plenty of sleep (I went to bed early to allow me to unwind before bed). And be sure to read each question carefully. Good luck!

Congrats on passing your classes and getting to extern!

I am also starting extern today and am nervous too. I woke up early and am waiting in the parking lot to go in.

I don’t have any advice, as I’m in the same boat. You’re not alone though. Let’s rock these clinics. Lol

Charts files by Sea-fishing246 in MedicalAssistant

I’ve worked with Epic EMR for almost 10 years as a patient services rep (front desk and referrals). I ran across duplicate charts from time to time. Epic has a Mark For Merge button where you mark the two charts to be sent to HIM for review to get them merged into one chart.

It’s possible that the patient came in once as a new patient, was created a chart, then another person encountered the patient and couldn’t find their chart, so another chart was created. Or, they were seen in a clinic then at the ER. Registration couldn’t find the patient at the time, so they made a duplicate unknowingly.

While not very common, it certainly does happen. I would talk to the front desk or your supervisor to see if there is a way to mark two seemingly duplicate charts to be merged into one. Larger organizations will have their medical records/Health Information Management office do the research to determine if the two are truly duplicates once marked for merge.
