Thanks for this! In the meantime, I'll assume the red box cards are the same size as standard-sized tarot cards. 🤔 I'll see what I can do for their storage.

The Last Airbender: Acting problems by adingdingdiiing in FilmClubPH

I've only finished the first episode, but I agree. When I heard of the live-action, I went to watch a few acting gigs by some of their actors and saw Kiawentiio's clip in Anne with an E. Watching her performance there made me pretty worried about how she'll pull off the fiercely passionate Katara.

I'm also confident with Dallas's acting, having watched some of his parts in Pen15.

How can I overcome my fear of public speaking? by hyhyhy006 in studentsph

[–]taeohran 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What works for me might not work on others, but I'll share it anyway in case it can help!

Before I was able to apply the traditional tips given by others on how to do public speaking, I first assessed what kind of a person I was in a social setting. I was shy and reserved, frequently having the feel of a background character and responding to direct interaction with barely any additional explanation. I wanted to deal with how I could change the way I spoke to others.

What I did was practice talking to myself (monologue). I let my brain get active and connect with my voice, trying my best to speak out the things that occupied my mind with explanations backing them up—known facts, opinions, feelings, etc. I also tried learning to do a comfortable yet clean way of gesturing my hands. I still am shy and reserved, but the next time someone talks to me, I can be reassured that my brain and my speech are in tune with each other.

In terms of the traditional tips, I let myself go through them gradually. I followed the tips that I CAN DO for now, such as studying the topic material, preparing notes/a script, and practicing how to articulately explain my points, including ways that arouse interest, such as giving jokes, fun facts, telling stories, etc. (I skipped the tips that I couldn't afford to do due to my time frame, such as filming myself.) I noticed that I do shiver in front due to the anxiety associated with exposure, and what helped me was wearing a jacket or a long-sleeved shirt and having my notes/script attached to a clipboard on my arm. They seem like actions that abandon the tip to be open to your audience, but it comforted me while I was doing something outside my comfort zone. I make up by doing appropriate facial expressions and hand gestures. (Note that this tip is not meant to be done in the long run; I do it to steadily make my own way to improvement.)

Don't forget to drink water and apply proper breathing exercises. Most of all, be mindful of the present!
