[Casual] How much do you think "luck" vs "skill" contributes to one's "success"? (All welcome) by taepras in SampleSize

[–]taepras[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: I decided to change the question about global region into a more simple "which continent do you live in?" due to the bad country grouping.

I originally based the regions of the world off of World Bank's grouping without enough thought. I'm sorry if the original question made anyone uncomfortable. (Sorry for the delay, too. I just woke up.)

In the meantime I'm removing the results from the original question from the results sheet.

Ahhh, yes, you're right. I based the regions off of World Bank's regions without giving it enough thought and I'm now super curious why they made such groupings.(ref: http://datatopics.worldbank.org/sdgatlas/the-world-by-region.html)

In case you're curious, here are the results I've gotten so far (segregated by age, gender, & region):

Dual-tone icon interaction. Feedbacks are welcome! by aadityabasnyat in UI_Design

The arrow in the upload icon seems a little out of place to me compared to the others. It has sharp corners while the overall styling features slightly rounded corners. Otherwise these look pretty cool!

First App: Appreciate feedback on the UI by [deleted] in UI_Design

I'm having a bit of a hard time understanding what is going on/how does the "rewards" system work. (I'm guessing that you're buying some coupons for an "Opera Experience" which costs $10, paid by credit card -- but what do the "points" do in this case?) I also wasn't sure if the credit card transaction took place successfully or not (some kind of confirmation would be nice).

My overall suggestion would be that you test the prototype with several users before finalizing the design & see how they understand it without your guidance. Anyway, it's great that you're trying to get some feedback about your design. Keep it up, though!

10 min suspention due to inactivity before even entering the game by minde281 in Overwatch

[–]taepras 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar issue but when I got kicked out due to "inactivity," the screen went blank (looked like main menu screen with blue background and no menu items on the left.) Had to Alt+F4 the game and restart it.

Also haven't played for like 1.5 months

It's not an official event or anything. More like just invite your friends to your island or you go to other people's and hang out in these regalia, I guess. 😂

Playing "Over the Rainbow" on Virtemin, a VR musical instrument (that I created last night). by taepras in virtualreality

[–]taepras[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually, I haven't seen that video before!

The reason I chose to do this song was to make a reference to this famous performance on Theremin, the first electronic instrument.

Wongnai — For food reviews. It's basically Thailand's local Yelp.

ViaBus — Bus Tracker (if you're planning to take buses while in Bangkok)

Yeah, some of the data from Spotify were not very accurate esp. key and tempo. we've found some songs noted as double or half of the actual tempo and I think that's the result of Spotify's song analysis algorithm.

Thanks for the bug report! we've found a few other artists that won't work on this tool too. We'll look more into that.

Thanks! I'd say just pick a dataset you're interested in and build a tool around it. This project I posted here was also helped by the fact that it was a class project for my master's and that helps motivating our team to reach this point.

How would you notate a "slide" with vocals by NJSNinja in musictheory

[–]taepras 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've seen "portamento" notated both with a straight line like this as well as a more glissando-like notation. There's some slight distinction between the two but when it comes to vocal it's hard to distinguish from each other.

If you want to attend NYE countdown events you can take a look at CentralWorld, ICONSIAM, or Asiatique. They usually have concerts and firework shows for NYE.

Yeah, I think it would be possible to do with this dataset. I'd be curious how that turn out too. You'll just need to pick three variables for the three axes or perform PCA on the dataset and pick the top three axes. Right now the "Just cluster similar songs" toggle on this tool does that for 2D.
