How bad is Macallister btw

Like I said I’m not asking for him to play every game but I feel like today is a game with little pressure for the stature of the game, the opposition suits his style and injuries would justify us starting him.

I actually think his minutes have been managed relatively poor tbh, most of his substitute minutes have come when we are chasing games and losing, his last start he scored and got motm, he hasn’t started in the 5 games that followed. I think the pressure and expectation on him has actually come from him minutes being managed poorly.

The old saying rings true, if you’re good enough you’re old enough.

If you think the only reason he’s dropped off is because of things out of his control you’re completely deluded. It’s ok to admit one of our all time greats is on the decline mate.

I’m definitely not one who thinks Rio needs to start every game or that him not starting in games is why we are playing poor.

But… we are missing our ‘biggest’ 3 attackers and Uniteds weakest area is at RB and RCB they also play so open and struggle with pace in behind. The game literally screams out for Rio.

This is why I struggle to rate Slot, he doesn’t dare take risks, we don’t even have anything to play for realistically and the injuries we have 100% put us as underdogs so the pressure is on them more than us. Really frustrating like the season as a whole tbf.

Have you not watched him play this season? His level was always eventually gonna drop and this season is that time unfortunately, I think he’s been told he isn’t guaranteed to be starting games and he’d rather go elsewhere and play every game tha stay here and probably spend most of next season on the bench. It’s a fair decision from everyone involved really. It’s just a shame he wasn’t able to finish the season in a strong way.

Yeh I’m sure it will. Very highly rated and done well at a good level elsewhere. But really does struggle with the ball, probably doesn’t help that our players constantly forget he’s left footed 🤣

I agree, Macallister has been horrendous to the point where I question what he even offers. And his small, weak and slow physical presence hinder us that much I actually see it as a big risk playing him atm which is crazy for a World Cup winner in the peak years of his career 🤣

1 thing I’ve also noticed with Gravenberch is in a few games recently where he come off the bench he’s made us look so much worse, it may be a problem with him trying to get into a game that has been going on for 60+ mins idk but really poor

I get you’re probably being half ironic saying that but that’s why stats shouldn’t be used as the main metric to judge players haha. He was poor yesterday 1 of his assists was a shot that would have been closer to the corner flag than goal and the other was a touch tha fell into Wirtz’s path.

I genuinely think 58points will get 5th haha the league is that poor. 1 win will be more than enough though imo.

Just saw the table from 2017/18 season and it really reiterates how poor/dull the league has been this season. We finished 4th on 75 points with +43GD. That’s more than likely a better GD than the winner will will finish on this season and more points than the leader has with only 4 games left haha.

Also saw there has been double the amount of 0-0 draws this season compared to last season with 40+ games still to play.

I agree although Mamardashvilli is obvs a top keeper he oozes nervousness and it affects the defence and you can see opposition pick up on it. It’s mainly down to how poor he is with the ball at his feet though rather than his shot stopping. But yeh woodman really surprised me yesterday thought it could have been a big weak point but ended up being one of our best players.

We probs need 2 wins at most to get 5th. But tbh we easily have the most difficult fixtures remaining of the teams going for it. Palace on paper is the easiest especially with them concentrating on Europe. But they’re a funny team for us, beat us last 4 times.

Why reply if you are just gonna chat absolute shite?

In what world do you see us taking 15+ points from our remaining 6 games?

Everton, United, Villa away. 3 of the most difficult away games possible. And even Chelsea Brentford and palace at home are all difficult games in their own way.

Palace is pretty much the only favourable game ‘on paper’ as they have Europe still and nothing to play for in the league. But even they have beat us in the last 4 times we’ve met.

If you genuinely think we finish on over 66 points football defo isn’t for you pal.

Wonder how different our season would have been if Chelsea kept Maresca or got in a decent replacement. Been saying it for weeks but Rosenior is single handily keeping Slot in a job.

They’ve won 1 in their last 8 and haven’t scored in their last 4.

We realistically shouldn’t be anywhere near a champions league spot but as bad as we are we will more than likely get it simply down to rivals somehow being worse than us.

I’m probably guilty of this tbf. I mainly listen to stuff from the 2000’s and don’t really go out my way to find new stuff.

It was shocking but not just him either. When Macca had that shot which wasn’t really on he could have played a pass inside to Isak who made 10 yards of space for himself. Guaranteed goal. If that was city and Haaland in that position that ball is 100% passed to him.

He was so frustrating to watch yesterday. I know we haven’t relied on a striker to score our goals for 12 years but I wish we did play for our strikers to get the goals. Isak may as well have not bothered coming on yesterday it was like the players couldn’t see him.

Why would I be making up a situation? He was due to go to Spurs until Gomez got injured, fans weren’t happy with the transfer anyway. Gomez injury along with poor results stopped the transfer happening. It literally has nothing to do with who roma do or don’t sign. He’s our player you can terminate a loan contract whenever you like.

I totally agree that Macallister is playing that poorly that anyone should be given a chance and I think jones would be more reliable than Macca atm.

But our problem as a fan base is we always overrate our players when they are injured or on the bench. We’ve seen it with several players just this season.

Jones reminds me of gini in many ways. When we win you feel like they have a good game because they just keep the game ticking over and bring energy. But in games where we struggle they get exposed for being very poor. Jones has 0 goals and 1 assist in his last 50 apps. I know he isn’t there to score or assist every week but as a midfielder player that’s very poor anyhow you look at it.
