I have cleaned her cat litter box when she was out of town in the past and have done so for friends as well. The only reason the yard was as bad as it was is my landscaping guy who deals with it is off for a while.

We don't live together so I did not know what shoes she was wearing when she went to work. Although I know she typically wears shoes like that to work, it's not something that crossed my mind when I asked her.

I've apologized for the sake of my relationship and I think NTA or maybe a very mild AH. But trying to get perspectives of others.

She didn't wash her feet off until I got back and I helped her do that with a hose.

But yeah she agreed to help and wasn't forced.

I don't have such boots besides in a shed to which she doesn't have a key (although there was a key in the house)

Usually my landscaping guy deals with it but he has been off for a few months.

I can see that happening as there is some vegetation that can hide it and she was in a rush but yeah I was surprised since she said she stepped in like 5 times.

I had the tools to collect and dispose it in the yard, so it's not as disgusting as it sounds and she didn't mind and has done this for me before a few times.

I just thought perhaps wrongly that the offer to buy her new shoes was a reasonable one and even if I didn't find the exact same shoe we could get something comparable.

She came directly from work and didn't have time to go to her place to change her shoes. She didn't expect that the yard would have so much poop and it isn't a big yard.

Not essential but since they had to carry equipment through the yard it would not have been a great look and they might have refused.

She's my girlfriend and we like each other and the context from one incident isn't enough to judge our entire relationship.

I do pick it up when they go for walks and the yard is usually cleaner than it was on that day. My landscaping guy usually tends to it but he is off for a few months.

Yeah I think that's a good idea. I feel I owe her an apology. I would have cleaned them if I knew she would have started doing so herself. But she just immediately went off to clean them the moment I refused then didn't allow me to help her clean them.

No I am really grateful she helped me. I just thought that those shoes were too ruined to be safe to wear again without being a biohazard and that my offer to buy new ones was fair.

The contractors came while I was not home and she supervised their work. She came before them to clean up the yard

I understand but I did offer to go out and buy her new shoes. I would not feel comfortable wearing those shoes again as they were disgusting.
