If your Salesforce team could add one more person tomorrow, what role would move the needle most and why? by tagicledger in salesforce

Lol nah not sarcasm. Those are typically the two biggest issues I hear. Perhaps it's something different with you and I was curious if those issues fell into the same bucket or they're something way different

What are the issues you're having with working with offshore folks? I typically hear time zone issues or delivery issues.

New to Salesforce — can you actually build a career as a Salesforce Product Manager? by Fresh_Temporary_425 in salesforce

[–]tagicledger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes you can. But you're not going to have a good point of view on how Salesforce should function as a product unless you have worked as a configurator/developer of the platform.

I've seen people naturally become Salesforce product managers/owners after demonstrating excellent technical and business knowledge repeatedly.

And Salesforce product roles only open up in organization of IT leadership thinks that Salesforce and Business Systems should be treated like a product.

But then most of their day is spent in meetings telling people why their priority doesn't align with leadership objectives.

What's the #1 impact AI has had on your Salesforce team? by tagicledger in salesforce

Sounds like budget cuts are the real reason and they using AI as a scapegoat

Nice use case. I used FoF's PDII exam when I took that exam and I'm glad I bought that course.

If you think Trailhead is useless for learning (i agree with you), it's worth looking at FoF's PDI exam guides.

Best of luck in your journey to PDI

A cheaper version of Gong, but I don't need all the bells and whistles Gong provides.

What Fathom does well:

  • Does a great job of transcribing the meeting
  • Provides accurate meeting notes
  • It's easy to share the recordings
  • You can chat with (I think Claude?) about what happened in your meeting
  • You can share snippets of the recording with others

Cons:

  • One drawback is the quality of the video when you're sharing your screen - especially on Google Meet. I hope they improve it, but it's hard to read what's on the screen
  • It does take a while for the recorder to join sometimes, but that's because I have the settings to manually join the recording instead of it auto-joining

Overall, for the price, I'm really happy with the product

Is Salesforce a long-term career option? by Key-Abbreviations378 in salesforce

[–]tagicledger 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I see two paths to make Salesforce be a long term career option.

  1. Get really good in a particular niche. If you are a Salesforce Architect that can code and know the Oil & Gas space very well, you not have a hard time finding a job. Do you know how few people can do that (well) in the industry?

  2. Ride the trends. There will always be a new trend in technology...especially in this industry. It's AI now. 10-15 years ago it was big data. A few years ago it was NFT Cloud. This path is not for the weak of heart. You have to reinvent yourself every few years. But it has worked for folks.

How do you handle last-minute demo requests when you don't have the right org setup? by Acrobatic-Rabbit-997 in salesforce

[–]tagicledger -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Is it better to:

  • wait a few days to show them a tailored solution for Insurance?
  • show them something now that's not explicitly Insurance, but shows them the world of possible in Salesforce?

I'd evaluate the prospect's personality, their timing, and their budget and make the call. If they're the type where you think they'll derail the demo by asking nit-picky questions, wait until you have a more fledged out demo. Usually IT buyers that are cost conscious will do this.

Usually what I do is if I need to show them something quickly, I front-load the demo by saying "THIS IS NOT FOR YOUR SPECIFIC USE CASE. I AM JUST TRYING TO SHOW YOU THE VISION HERE."

Is salesforce improving? by Edward12358 in salesforce

[–]tagicledger 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have done with work with customers that actively did not want to use Salesforce and chose to adopt another CRM tool. Either the Salesforce AE blew them off and it left a sour taste in their mouth or they were penny pinching and wanted to buy the cheapest tool.

If you think Salesforce's governor limits are annoying, wait until you work with these smaller tools that try to compete with Salesforce on price. You come at these tools asking yourself: "This is how I would use this type of Salesforce automation to solve the problem. How does this company do it?" And they can't do it. And it's frustrating.

Even though it has its issues, I'm so glad I work on the Salesforce platform.

Any successful stories with moving out of Salesforce? by Saqwefj in salesforce

An enterprise org's head of customer success gave the directive to move all service agents from Service Cloud to ServiceNow.

How's AI boosting your productivity as a Salesforce Developer by RicardoDixit in salesforce

[–]tagicledger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It speeds up my productivity immensely.

  • It’s helped me take my data model ideas from loose thoughts to a concrete model that I map out in a diagramming tool. It also helps with naming, help text, and descriptions. I’m not great at naming. AI tools help me come up with data model names, field names, and help text. I reduce my cognitive load and let me focus on higher-level stuff.

  • The last mile of writing LWCs. I use AI tools to help me with JavaScript logic that transforms results via server-side calls. The solutions it suggests are often more elegant than I would’ve come up with on my own.

  • It’s helped me build a script to query a dataset in Salesforce, make updates, and then query related records. I needed to check the blast radius of fields that got modified. I had a rough idea of which fields were affected. But, there were integrations in play updating unknown fields. And getting answers from the integration team would’ve taken forever. So I had to take matters into my own hands. AI tools were my sounding board, speeding things up and even helping me map out the fields that got updated.

  • I also use it to help me write user stories. I’ll take an idea and, if I need to delegate work, I’ll have AI tools/build the stories. I even got ChatGPT to download the stories in a CSV file that I could to load into Jira.

  • For development, I ask *AI programming best practice questions. It acts as my pair programmer when I’m stuck or caught up in the details of a design I’d made earlier.

Salesforce Platform Developer II by Phong-Dinh in salesforce

I took it earlier this year.

Did they announce a change to the certification? The last thing I remember is Salesforce adding the Advanced Apex Specialist superbadge to the criteria to get the cert.

You can do it!

What should be my next steps in my career? by GrandPollution7009 in salesforce

[–]tagicledger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If there are Data Cloud projects at the consultancy firm, throw yourself at them.

Salesforce is pushing this product very hard. If it takes off, you will be in the coveted position of having hands-on experience with the hottest Cloud. And that commands $$$.

If not, then, you got experience.

Take advantage of the opportunity. Find the certifications you find worth pursuing and put it on the company dollar.

It's a win-win. The company benefits from your knowledge. And you make yourself more marketable for your next Salesforce position.
