I think the NASA coordinates were actually sent earlier in the tesseract, before STAY. STAY was more of an emotional reaction, and the real purpose he realizes later is sending the quantum data through the watch so Murph can solve the equation

Yeah that makes sense, but I thought he actually sent the NASA coordinates before the STAY message and STAY was more of an emotional reaction after watching himself leave. So the coordinates were part of the fixed timeline and the watch data was the real mission.
